Au contraire, no shortage of character where Arsene’s concerned

We expected some strong reaction to yesterday’s posting Wenger’s fault that Arsenal lack character and you didn’t disappoint

Au contraire, no shortage of character where Arsene’s concerned

Arsene – A man and his team made of the right stuff.

The ignorant spoiled-brat rubbish written about Mr. Wenger (Wenger’s fault that Arsenal lack character) is almost beyond belief!

“Third best manager” you say? You must be one of the “Johnny come lately” and leave-early crowd!

Mr. Grayson, I presume you rate Arsene behind Moaninho and Fergusmoan. Let me give you one stunning example that proves your “half glass empty” theory completely wrong: For the price Moaninho paid for Shaun Wright-Phillips, our “third best manager” bought: Toure, Henry, Van Persie, Fabregas, Eboue, and probably a few more. Now make the comparison with Fergusmoan and, say, Rio… I don’t know about most Gooners, but I’d rather have just Toure from that list ahead of Rio or SWP.

If you have questions, I believe I (and Mr. Wenger) have the answers which you are simply too narrow-minded and bigoted to perceive. Let’s consider just a few: Arsenal have the most talented team of youngsters in the country (and arguably the EU); the paradigm shifts in training, nutrition and motivation that Mr. Wenger brought to English football; the trophies; getting to the CL final with ten clean sheets and three quarters of the defence missing — clearly demonstrating a lack of character; the new stadium, which is in large part down to him; the extending of the careers of Tony Adams, Bould, Winterburn, Dixon and numerous others; the embarrassment of our beloved Paddy at the twinkle toes of Cesc; going an entire league season unbeaten; seeing some of the best football this country has ever produced; the training ground; having to compete with Manure and now Chavski on a fraction of their money AND STILL win trophies; producing not one, but two of the best players in the world in Thierry and Cesc; showing dignity in his handling of the Cashley Hole debacle… I could go on, but I’m tired of belabouring the obvious to idiots.

However, on one final note, let’s talk about Ashley Cole, excuse me, Cashley Hole, the embodiment of this English “character” we so miss from our team, the same Cashley who openly admitted in his “book” that, “no one would go on the lash with me after the Wigan game, so I went alone and got hammered!” Well maybe, oh great “English Character”, the other players didn’t go because they, unlike you, are professional athletes who wanted to prepare properly for the forthcoming CL final! And you, Mr Grayson, want English players, which means you would rather pay £18.6 million for Carrick rather than £25 grand for Cesc? Of course, the character of the team and the manager had no bearing whatsoever on: Henry’s decision to stay at Arsenal; keeping God (that’s Dennis) as an Arsenal player (for the last few years on a massive pay reduction, clearly demonstrating a poor character); winning the title at White Hart Lane and Old Trafford; etc, ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

I write this the morning after Arsenal’s loss at West Ham yesterday and Mr. Wenger’s astonishing touchline behaviour; I cannot defend him (nor, I suspect, will he defend himself). I thought he was wrong, but as for displaying a lack of character, what would people say if it had been Neil Warnock or Ferguson? They would say it shows that they are passionate and caring — the same holds true for Mr. Wenger.

You, Mr Grayson, are NOT a true Arsenal fan. Please go away and support one of the “two best managers” in the league!
