Row 15 is pants!

Someone told a Clock End season ticket holder the gradient at the new stadium would be steeper. Doesn’t look like it.

Row 15 is pants!

Lower tier view. No comparison with Clock End

I wanted to email you about the new stadium and how fantastic it is. But…

It really is a fantastic stadium and I am sure given time the Gooners will make it a fortress, but I have to have a little moan. Yet I don’t really know who to have a moan at: Arsenal or the staff at the season ticket reservation centre.

Back end of last season we got our letters asking to come down to the centre in Brewery Road to view our virtual seats and choose which one we wanted. We were offered what was supposed to be a similar seat to the one which we had at Highbury. We didn’t want to be too near the front so we all decided to take the offer of row 15. However, before we proceeded I asked if the new stadium was steeper than Highbury as I was in row 20 in the Clock End and that was perfect height.

The guy selling us our seats said the lower tier was steeper than at Highbury so I thought row 15 would be about the same as Highbury’s row 20 in the new stadium.

Yet I hate my new seat and the new stadium is definitely not steeper than Highbury. I am much lower down, making it difficult to see what’s going on when any action takes place at the other end.

So who is it that lied to us? Was it Arsenal telling their sellers in the reservation centre to lie and just sell the seats, or was it the guy in the booking office just making it up for a sale? I know now that lots of people are going to have a go at me and say I should just be grateful for what I have got, but I pay my money like the rest and feel I should be allowed to have a moan. I wonder how many other Gooners feel the same?

I will love Arsenal ‘til I die, travel down from Peterborough every week and go to many aways including Europe. But one thing I can’t stand is seeing the club I love telling lies just to get bums on seats and turning into a corporate money-making club not giving a second thought to real fans who spend most of their money on watching the greatest team the world has ever seen.

No doubt next season I will renew (depending on how much they hike the prices up), but I think I might look into moving upstairs to the top tier (not club level!)
