Senderos, son of Cygan?

Going through some previous submissions, this one was sent in a couple of weeks before Xmas on the subject of our number 6

Senderos, son of Cygan?

Big Phil – One major f*ck up per game?

Is it just me or have others spotted that our new 'Swiss Tony' is at the moment more akin to Pascal Cygan than the legend that was TA6? I feel as if I'm in a minority of one questioning Big Phil's talent but surely other Gooners have noticed that even last season he usually had at least one major f*ck up per game which nine times out ten should have resulted in a goal but somehow managed out of a combination of sheer blind luck and his team-mates’ alertness NOT to end up in total disaster.

Now I know it's easy to criticise a young player learning his trade and growing up in public and people will point out quite justifiably to some sterling performances last season in the Premiership and our Champions league run. And I'll whole heartedly agree with them, but unfortunately for me his Inspector Clouseau/ Mr Bean moments are the memories which remain fresh in the mind.

Against Chavski he missed kicking the ball completely on three separate occasions!! He resembled a pub player. And would it be totally unfair to single him out for criticism and mention Fulham away with his sending off (as nobody in red performed well that night).

At the moment Big Phil is a very poor fourth choice centre back and Johan Didgeridoo looks by far the better and more accomplished partner for Toure or Gallas. Considering the slating that Justin Hoyte got for giving away a penalty against Man Citeeh why does it seem to be sacrilege to point out Swiss Tony's shortcomings?

Having seen the likes of Frank McLintock, David O'Leary, Tony Adams, Martin Keown, Uncle Bouldy and now Toure & Gallas at the heart of our defence, at the moment, I would hesitate to put Senderos anywhere near this list of greats.

Maybe a comparison with a young error prone TA6 is warranted at the moment but a young Tony Adams was allowed to grow up without the pressure of instant success because we were crud and his mistakes didn't come with the threat of losing the club millions of pounds in much needed lost revenue.

He is struggling with form at the moment after a strenuous first campaign, a World Cup and a nasty injury. With the transfer window about to open wouldn't it make sense to either buy another utility defender or promote the reserve skipper Connolly after his Bournemouth loan finishes? It would be kinder to the player and beneficial in the long run to send Senderos out on loan to a Championship team to regain some form and to continue his education for a while away from the high pressure of Ashburton Grove?
