Crikey Nike. Bad customer service at Arsenal?

Low quality, high cost gear. Out of stock items. Sound familiar?

Crikey Nike. Bad customer service at Arsenal?

Don’t get badge-red into buying one by the nipper? (badgered – geddit?)

I have just had the most frustrating discussion with the Arsenal customer service - they obviously don't give a s*** about little boys getting upset!

Background is the purchase of a full Arsenal away kit from the Arsenal online shop for my eight year old's birthday present. The badge started fraying and coming apart after a matter of weeks. Outcome is, as they have no away shirts left and no new stock coming in because the kit is changing in three months’ time, all they can do is either offer a refund or exchange for a home shirt (although they have the same problems!) I told the voice on the phone that I would expect a refund for the whole kit in this case, shorts and socks as well. He wasn't willing to do that initially, but came round in the end - I mean, what good is a pair of shorts and socks without the matching shirt!

More seriously it perhaps indicates a lack of commercial thinking in the Arsenal organisation? You never know - the yellow away kit might yet grace another Champions League Final. I was at the Blackburn away game and also the 4th round replay against Bolton – the team are playing superb football at the moment.

I am a Man United supporting dad (along with my wife, my elder son and my parents) - but my son, William sat down with us a few years ago to watch United matches and rapidly developed an ABU (anyone but United) stance so he could be different. As at the time all the big matches for cups and titles were between United and Arsenal this rapidly became a 'I support Arsenal' stance. I have no real issue with this - I encourage his independence and it's good to get out to see Arsenal from time to time as well. William's favourite player is Fabregas - and I think he will be an absolute star too.

But after this experience, maybe my son should change allegiance - Manchester United have far superior service!
