Let the sun shine v Chavski on May 6th

Let’s cheer ourselves up with some suggestions for an O2 competition on the theme of a favourite recollection from our encounters with the history-less mob from SW6

Let the sun shine v Chavski on May 6th

All together now: It’s only…

A friend sent me a link to the competition being run by O2 to win a box to the Arsenal v Chelsea game. If you are an O2 customer all you have to do is tell them your favourite memory from any Arsenal v Chelsea game.

Comp entry is here

That got me thinking and the more I thought the happier I became. Here’s my selection of memories:

Dixon's late equalizer in the league game at Stamford Bridge in the 1991/1992 season - in the days when the Bridge looked like something from ‘Life on Mars’.

The comprehensive 3 - 0 win in the league at Stamford Bridge in the 1996/1997 season. I was sitting with the Chelsea faithful for this game and that only added to the fun.

Nigel Winterburn's fantastic winning goal in the sunshine, again in the league, again at Stamford Bridge in the 1997/1998 season.

Listening on the car radio driving up the M6 as Kanu's scored his third goal and winner again in the league again at Stamford Bridge in the 1998/1999 season. If I had been driving I at the time I might have driven off the road Cashley style.

Silvinho's stunning equalizer again in the league and in the sunshine at Stamford Bridge in 2000/2001 season.

FA Cup Final – The “It’s only Ray Parlour” winning goal in the Cardiff sunshine.

The Patrick Vieira equalizer in the 2 -1 win at Stamford Bridge in the 2003/2004 season. In glorious sunshine Dennis Bergkamp split the Chelsea defence with the perfect pass for Pat to run onto and score. Edu finishes the job soon after.

Let’s hope the sun shines on 6 May.
