Fantastic performance at Anfield yesterday

I just want to say that I thought we put in a spiffing performance yesterday.

Let’s start heaping the praise on our goalkeeper first. Jens was unlucky to be beaten four times yesterday - an insult to a great man like that, who has never reacted to any such provocation in his career. It is not his fault that he looked like a flying pizza for the second and third goals - I'd give this man a ten year contract, forget about a one year deal.

Our full backs were never done for pace and were always in the right place at the right time. Eboue, our gentle right back, was unlucky to be subbed. Our centre backs leaped courageously against the beanpole striker for Liverpool, constantly heading away dangerous crosses from the opposition’s wide players and clearly denying them any chances.

Our brave young midfielders never shirked a tackle, stamping their authority on the match, and controlling the game. And Helb never gave the ball away.

Up front, Baptista showed all the close control you would expect from a Brazilian. He was never once brushed off the ball. He always looked for team-mates with well considered passes. Adeybayor showed the clinical finishing we've become accustomed to this season.

All in all, the future looks bright.

And yes, I know what the date is as well.
