I’m seeing West Ham mid to late 1980s. The word AVCO comes to mind. Yes, it’s a West Ham away top. Only to be sported by Arsenal in 2007-08.

Or so we are told. Eventually the club will confirm or deny, (although the word is that they have unofficially admitted that it will be a white) but until then, you just can’t help but wonder, speculate and always be mindful that this might be the work of a fevered imagination (or indeed the Nike design department, although that could be one and the same).

I came to like the redcurrant shirt from the “Farewell Highbury’ season. Of this, I’m certain it won’t be as easy to come to terms with, the images of Frank McAvennie and Tony Cottee always drifting across my mind.

Let’s hope it’s a wind up, eh?
