Obviously everybody would rather we were challenging for the title every season but we know this is not possible as no club in the history of English football has managed this.I've never gone along with the notion that a team has to improve each year as that is impossible as all clubs go out to achieve this but not all can achieve this.Fighting for top four is better than haveing nothing to go for and big spending sides like Chelsea and City have proved that even with money the title is not guaranteed.More mature supporters will see the bigger picture, but the more modern supporter and the fanboy will continue to be disgruntled.

Maguiresbridge gooner, good point about captains TA,Frank Mclintock used to put fear into our players and PV4 led by example,it seems some of the latter captains are only here for the ride. The quicker we make Jack skipper the better.

And another thing lads, the very last thing we should be discussing at this moment and time is why Arsenal haven't successfully defended a title since the 30's. We can't even defend a lead.I'm not sure who said lets win another one first but their right, but if our record over the last six seven or so years are anything to go by the chances of that are slim indeed.

Bernard our recent success (if you want to call it that)is a bit deceptive alright, just because we've beaten basement boys, also rans, and relegation fodder when the pressure is off suddenly doesn't make everything alright we've seen it all before.I think it was kev remarked and i agree, things have tightened up of late, and we all know why, ogl's holy grail is at stake. There's nothing exciting or thrilling about playing for(or scraping for)fourth place and an imaginary trophy season after season although for some it's the highlight of their season. We certainly haven't got and badly in need off is a player/players capable of kicking others up the arse when needed, and letting them know in no uncertain terms what their doing wrong, and the captains we have or had and the ones that captain their countries aren't up to that job.All the captains from the crap countries good quip.Good podcast.

Kevin summed it up perfectly when he said he doesn't care what type of football we play as long as its winning football.Think back to Clichy in that game at Birmingham. In the whole history of football a goal has never been scored from row Z in the stand but Clichy was brainwashed by Wenger to play the ball out. This season will be defined by 3 games the Bradford,Blackburn and Bayern(home)games not a 4th place finish

No, we are not excited by the race for a top four finish. For a start, we should be in an FA cup semi final this weekend.I do not have historic pictures on my walls of top four finishes.
