How Wenger could have a £60m transfer warchest

One fan puts himself in Arsene’s shoes for the day

How Wenger could have a £60m transfer warchest

Oi! You! Close the door on your way out!

Today I’ll mostly be Wenger for the day….

After just about managing to prevent Chavski from prolonging their own title agony on Sunday, I couldn’t help feeling frustrated once again. Chance after chance came and went and it was almost inevitable when they scored, let alone pushed forward for a winner. Story of our season.

There’s no doubt that with 10 or 11 men, the Chavs were more than a match for us and when those who say that only a couple of our players can reasonably expect to get in their 16, it pretty much says it all.

I see today that we’ve all but signed Polish number two goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski – and I hope he has a combination of Dudek’s penalty saving with the authority of a Cech.

I was disappointed when Jens signed another deal – when you think of the number of bookings he’s had, the number of times we’ve conceded when he flaps at a corner – it’s hard to conclude he’s not past his best.

So I thought to myself, if I were Arsene for just one day, with the power to get all my transfer business done in one swoop (as seemed to be the case last summer when Gallas, Baptista and Denilson all signed just before midnight on August 31), what would I do?

Let’s assume AW has been given £15 to bolster his squad.

If it’s true that Willie Gallas has fallen out with some of the younger members of the team and notwithstanding the fact that he has been indifferent much of the season, let’s take £12 from Real Madrid for him.

Big Phil, a liability much of the time, has an attitude problem which has stunted his opportunities this season (note Gilberto playing instead in March) so let’s get him out the door for £5m.

Emmanuel Eboue is great going forward but we all know his dives, his moaning and his confrontations are not doing us any favours. £4m please.

Reyes? Cut your loses Arsenal, get £8m for him to whoever will take him.

Fred is clearly past it despite giving his all and for all his trickery. I think Hleb had more shots on Sunday than throughout the entire rest of the season, and his lack of decisiveness make him a weakness. £7m the pair.

Aliadiere – sell him to Birmingham for £2m as a softener for them losing Bendtner.

I’m assuming that Flamini and Baptista will be off as well without bringing in much dough.

Gilbert & Muamba – the former was dropped by Cardiff for disciplinary reasons and Hoyte’s new contract suggests he is seen as the young pretender. Muamba’s agent is linking him to everyone so he looks to have been told he will not get a regular game at the Grove. £6m the pair.

Almunia should leave if the Polish keeper arrives as well - £1m.

So that gives a grand total of £60 MILLION as a war chest. Who would AW sign??

The Scum are after Younes Kaboul, France’s under-21 central defender – let’s sign him to add some height to the defence. £11m

OR

Curtis Davies – who AW went for last summer. £6m
