A plug for two films and a pdf from a community project in the Arsenal area

ITV London have got in touch asking for a link to some material that may be of interest to Arsenal fans on their London Life website.

The two films are entitled ‘The Auld Triangle’ and ‘The Politician’. They can be found on the London Life London Life website by clicking on ‘Islington’.

The next screen calls up some movies, including the two mentioned. Really, this is for people who might be interested in the reminiscences of the landlord (since the 1980s) of the Auld Triangle (formerly Plimsoll Arms) pub and anyone wanting to hear the views of the local MP, AISA’s Paul Matz and Highbury’s residents with regard to the building of the new stadium and the Highbury Square development (and in my own opinion the enclosed nature of the latter development excluding the local community from use of the garden space where the pitch used to be stinks, but that’s for another time).

A warning: you will need a fast internet connection (and a pc rather than a Mac) to view these films without being interrupted by buffering.

ITV tell us that “the films document the heritage of Arsenal and the N5 community in a period of significant change with Arsenal FC moving from Highbury to the Emirates. Characters tell poignant memories of past sporting events and life in the area in the old days. ITV Local is ITV’s new broadband television service, launched in February, aiming to bring local filmmakers and communities closer together by providing a platform for showcasing their work, giving voice to their concerns and reflecting the diversity of London. The way this has been achieved is by providing a channel for each London borough. London Life consists of user-led programming – made by the community for the community.”

And there’s more. A downloadable PDF (under ‘mediaZINE’) from this page this page.

This features some more Arsenal content from the old days including a fantastic image on the front cover which we’ve reproduced above.

Public Service Information is done for the day.
