Come back Jose, all is forgiven?

Was Reyes really that bad, and might he improve the Arsenal squad by returning?

Come back Jose, all is forgiven?

Do you know the way to shoot Jose? (apologies for the poor Burt Bacharach pun)

With Jose Antonio Reyes’ future at Arsenal in real doubt, I take a minute to think, is he really that bad? Think about it with all the speculation about Henry leaving, Aliadiere already left and Baptista apparently on his way back. That leaves us with not many attacking options. Ok, we still have Adebayor, Walcott, Van Persie and possibly Diaby (although he isn’t the most attacking player ever). So do we really need to bring Reyes back and say it’s tough, you’re on contact with us you’re an Arsenal player until we say so?

Think about it, he has just won Real Madrid the Spanish title, with two goals. Even though he hasn’t scored much for Real, he hasn’t really had much of a chance. Has sending Reyes to Real given him the experience that he needed to become a world class player? To be honest he was never really that bad for Arsenal, and if you remember he never really played as a striker but more as a winger.

There are of course other reasons why he doesn’t want to come back (he’s a mummy’s boy) but I personally think that we need him. Either that or we have to splash out on some experienced attackers.
