Arsenal Season Ticket Holders – It’s Time To Act!

A Rare Chance for Season Ticket Holders To Send A Message to Stan Kroenke and the Arsenal Board

Arsenal Season Ticket Holders – It’s Time To Act!

With Arsenal’s home FA Cup quarter final against Watford on Sunday afternoon being the eighth home FA Cup / Champions League fixture, the club’s financially stretched season ticket holders have the option not to take up their seats, and thus avoid having to pay between £35 and £70 extra if they renew their season tickets at the end of May.

Such a gesture also presents them with the rare opportunity to send a direct message to the board of directors and Stan Kroenke in particular if they are unhappy with:

• Stan Kroenke extracting £3 million a year from the club for ‘consultancy services’, the details of which the directors refuse to divulge in spite of repeated requests from shareholders

• The high price of tickets to watch Arsenal matches, which could easily be reduced as a consequence of the bumper new Premier League TV deal

Season ticket holders, paying the highest prices in English football, will need to inform the club that they wish to opt out of using their seat by their deadline of 12 noon on Thursday 10th March, and in so doing take the opportunity to let the board know they are not happy by refusing to give them any further money.

Click here for full details of how to opt out and avoid being charged even more for your season ticket renewal.

If several thousand season ticket holders opt out of Sunday's game, the club will be under no illusion that they can simply do as they choose without alienating the most loyal element of their fanbase. So act now if your pocket has already felt enough pain or if you want to take the opportunity to send an important message to the Club.

As fans in Africa we really feel hurted and so disappointed with our club each year.I support DT with his banner about Wenger leaving. I personally feel it's you Arsenal fans in the UK who can save this beloved Club of ours.We in AFRICA have little we can do (or nothing at all )to send the message to the club's managemnet. In this we are together. All the best.#COYG

Goonerjon - wow OMG wow.... What's your expected turn out? 136,506 bigger than Celtic v Leeds 1970, or even bigger 149,416 than Scotland v England 1937 ( 1 in 12 Scottish men attended) or possibly the biggest crowd ever, bigger than the Circus Maximus. Wowwee. Please can you get me a ticket! I think you must work for Stan so bound to have connections

I see Manchester Utd played last night against a team that was motivated, proud and had an obvious tactical game plan. I wonder if that had any effect upon a certain Marcus Rashford who rather than terrorising weak bottlers, found himself playing as a virtual defender?

Rocky RIP, yes mate that's some thing that really pisses me off, all this we will learn, we have learned, when they never do, (especially wally) if they were all true to their word (and even wenger too) and learning from these defeats embarrassments, etc and showing it and progress, we wouldn't be down on them half as much we really wouldn't, but the fact is they never ever do, and haven't done now for years, and it's obvious they're not going to now at this stage, they all really do make a rod for they're own back.

'We've learned the lessons', 'turned the corner' ...er, no you have not, you never do. People who are bogged down by the argument over Wenger seem to miss the point that the real problem at Arsenal is Kroenke. Wenger moving on won't change the fact that the leech will still at the top of our club, using our money to pay for a new ranch and generally not giving the slightest s*** about us as long as the profits roll in. (Hence why Wenger is his ideal man.) He needs to go. He puts nothing in and takes plenty out. People losing their rag with Wenger (often quite justifiably) should redirect some of it at the guy who seems to set the silent agenda whereby we are stuck in a perpetual cycle of 'nearly'.

Mark-if Wenger announced he was definitely leaving next season I'd not only be delighted but my support for him and his side would totally change and I'd get right behind him again. I think most anti-Wenger fans would feel the same. Unfortunately there's a big problem with this in that knowing Wenger he'd mistake this sudden support as something completely different and he'd reverse his decision and sign a new deal!!!...

Took a look at the ticket exchange yesterday and today. I would estimate the number of season ticket holders that have followed suit to comfortably be in the thoushands. You were limited to where you could sit if you wanted two together yesterday but not today, pretty much take your pick of where you want to sit even if you were buying three tickets together. Ive now opted out of this.First home game Ive missed for over 6 years and my father too who probably is close on 15 years without missing a home game. What is interesting though is the amount of people that look like they've followed suit.Just been on the online ticket page on arsenal.com and there are masses of unsold tickets on their stadium map for this match. You can practically choose how many and where you want to sit in the stadium. Well done to everyone for making this stand as i realize how difficult this has been but hopefully will be worth it

I've just opted out of Sunday's game. It's the first home game I'll have missed in 12 years so is not something I've done lightly and have done it with a heavy-heart. However, as the article points out, it is a rare opportunity for ST holders who want to remain ST holders to send a message to the board that we are sick of being taken for granted. The timing of the game means they have around 48 hours to resell my ticket and the hundreds, maybe thousands, of others who have done the same as me. If they don't, then that's impacting the bottom line. They should still ensure the seats are filled by giving away the tickets to local schools and by doing so encourage the next generation of supporters (or customers to use terminology which Stan will understand), but I'd be surprised if that happens. The person who sits next to me at games is still going, so he'll report back on who occupies my seat, if anyone, and I'll share that information on here next week. I do understand why some find it hard to balance this action with someone who claims, as I do, to be a dedicated fan, but as we've seen in the last couple of days protests can be a force for good and if I can play a small part in making the board recognise they have pushed ticket prices far beyond what was reasonable, then I'll feel proud to have done so.

Season tickets should be scrapped,Im giving mine up next season, mainly because I like to spend most of my time in East Anglia these days and I don't agree with the same mongs being given the seats for every game and bragging that they're some sort of superfans,it was a good idea in the 80's when there was only about 17,000 ST's yet not anymore.I want to see Arsenal pushing for more away tickets at grounds that don't always sell out and I want to see the Emirates expanded to about 100,000 so if I want to go I can.

The players had a meeting WITHOUT THE MANAGER OR THE COACHES so that THERE IS NO ONE TO SIMMER DOWN THE ANGER during the discussion. Imagine the anguish Cech must feel knowing that this is the sort of "title challenge" that Arsene is capable of mounting. The meeting would have turned out very differently had Wenger been there. Cech: "You miserable sons of b****es!! The title is there for the taking. Show some testicular fortitude for Gods sake. If it was Terry on Sunday, he would have the kid Rashford around all day and then gone home to shag his mother after winning the game. You sorry lot make a hero out of this scrawny lad and come out looking like a bunch of cuckolded fools. And if you've forgotten that you've got a pair look down, say hello to those withering, miniscule b****s that are hanging off your spineless bodies and pray that they get bigger before the end of the season." Arsene: "Petr, there, there, no need for such language. I don't see why you are so angry. So we lost against Swansea and got pushed around by teenagers at OT. But we are still above 4th place. So we are still ahead of where we should be."

  47. Ron

    Mar 09, 2016, 23:32 #85945

Hi Cyril. No, not all mate. Sorry if i gave that impression. What i mean is that membership system of which the season tiket syetem is intergral 'traps' fans into going to as many games as they can to justify the cost. As a result the Club fleeces its own members as they know they ll pay up so they dont lose the memberships and the chance to gain away credits etc. I just think it needs liberalising and the allocation of tickets then becomes less geared to those who ll stump up the ST and membership costs. It traps them and excludes others from going to games and encourages corruption and protectionism by the ST holders. Ive had STs Cyril until 2010 and i never liked the system when i was part of it to be totally honest with you. The malaise is AWs and the Boards, though they ll never admit fault. Why shuld they when theres 55000 odd showing up each home game all paying up to justify to themselves the extortionate price the Club charges them. In my view Cyril NO footie match is worth more than 20 quid. 25 quid tops. How many players get you off yr seat these days? Next to none in my view. How many teams would you mover heaven and earth for and work overtime to pay to travel to see/ I cant think of one. Not for me. Im an unabashed away fan only, who then only goes if a cheapo ticket falls my way from old mates and from the odd blokes who i barely know really who i used to do a few favours for off the back of my own membership down the years. Sorry my post gave the wrong impression. Ive finished paying my dues Cyril lad.

  48. Cyril

    Mar 09, 2016, 22:21 #85941

Ron: how are you. You can't seriously put the blame on malaise to ST holders. All we do is pay up and turn up each bloody year. Surely re-package the remaining tickets and make it happen. We cannot be criticised for our loyalty. Its unlikely I will carry on. But hey, I gave it my best as a fan supporting the greatest English team ever in this country!

  49. Ron

    Mar 09, 2016, 21:50 #85937

Its all of this 'membership' bol l o c ks that keeps the home match tickets high. Its them that need skewering, not the away games. A high proportion of those who go away do so on the cheap by taking away match tickets off season ticket holders who buy them to get 'credits' and then take the hit so to just shift the ticket. The SC s often have spares too that they flog off cheaper. It ll never happen but the abolition of the silly 'memberships' (ffs, what are they members of for the money? Nothing much in my view) and limit season tickets to the Club level brigade should happen. tickets thyen for the supporters clubs to flog and what they dont want, first come, first served. Season ticket holder doesnt = loyal fan. It just means deepest pockets. This would create some unfairness but the present system does anyway. We might even get some atmosphere back into the morgue too, just like a ticket free for all does at the last day of some Test matches and at Wimbledon.

  50. Hiccup

    Mar 09, 2016, 21:31 #85934

jj, you have your wires crossed. No one from Arsenal would elbow another player in the face? Sanogo must have been instructed by the knuckle dragging Neanderthal charlton manager to do it. Arsene needs to get him back and away from this environment. The MK Don player went to the ground rather too easy in my view, and the ref succumbed to pressure from the players surrounding him and a phone call from Fergie in his ear piece to send him off. Just like our players don't dive. When welbeck dived the other week, he thought he was still playing for that angry red nosed 'got Mike Dean' in my pocket bully Ferguson. He won't do that again after Wenger had a word in his ear. Isn't it great knowing Arsenal are the most sporting team in the league. If only Carlsberg did a league for this! Oh, hold on, according to AKB Central there is. We are the current Ethical League Champions... for the calendar year of course.

    Mar 09, 2016, 20:06 #85929

These 'clear the air' talks sound a bit WOB-ish to me. This suggests the players think they've not been up to scratch, when the AKBs have explained it's all due to Leicester's fixture list and corrupt refs. How dare the players criticise themselves - the anti-Arsenal traitors!

Hi Berry, good post, interesting that isn't it, obviously they thought they needed clear the air talks in the first place, I wonder why that was ? (as if we don't know) and was it before Hull ? if so why ? was it because they knew they had a good chance of a result against mediocre opposition ? and it would have looked good ? They're just as bad as TOF all spin merchants and most of them not fit to wear the shirt.

So Theo says a 'clear-the-air' meeting was held at the instigation of the senior players. Firstly, should players need to 'clear-the-air' - aren't they supposed to be dedicated professionals all pulling for one common cause, and secondly, how can things get to the point of having to 'clear-the-air' without the manager stepping in beforehand?

That may be a good sign in that loads of us are opting out but the message ''Thank you for your patience'' is wearing thin and sounds nauseatingly familiar. The only way they'll understand that we're fed up with the cost of our football is if there is a mass non-renewal of season tickets but let's face it, that's never going to happen!

Haven't been a member since 2010, haven't been to a game since 2010, haven't given the club a penny since 2010. Won't be back till Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke clear off

Snoopy, many of the "proper old schoolers" were priced out. The protest is about pricing. Do you really not get it?

Snoopy - (or are you Jamerson??) Your argument is totally invalid mate cos it's the "old schoolers" as you put it that are most fed up. I'm an Old School fan, brought up on the North Bank from the late 70s onwards and I'm sick to chuffing death of what Kroenke and Wenger are doing to our great Club. I voted with my feet and wallet about 6 years ago cos £100 a week to watch rubbish like Almunia, Bendtner, Song and Eboue tipped me over the edge. Change can't come soon enough!!

Snoopy - The irony in your last post is the reason "Old schoolers" packed it in, in the first place was because of the ridiculously high ticket prices.... That amongst other things is what has driven them out of the club and made the Emirates "atmosphere" what it is.

i am a season ticket holder and someone else is using my ticket for this match as i have a league tennis match. i still enjoy going to matches and for the most part the football on display but i do have criticisms of not just ticket pricing.why is food and drink inside the ground so extortionate?i have bought food and drink a handful of times since being at the emirates only when really late.at the very least i see no reason why red or silver members need to pay 50 quid for membership surely given the tv money a nominal fee of no more than a tenner.

Funny how WESTIE goes quiet on certain subjects like this one ... What can you say when you opted out over a decade ago .... Loyal supporters! lol! Bit thibk those Arsene marketing lackeys .....

Snoopy: now now! You will be fully aware that many ST holders like myself have been attending for countless years. Some 30 or 40 years in my stand. We are all equal and I can quite easily make an excellent arguement about our loyalty. There is unrest, accept it!!

  71. Snoopy

    Mar 09, 2016, 13:08 #85848

I wish all the current ST holders would opt out for good and go follow someone who lives up to their expectations instead of stinking the ground out every other week.Get all the proper old schoolers back in the ground and kick out all these grumblers.

me and my dad are both opting out of this match.Only other bit of advice i give is like me that you opt out at the last possible moment ie 11:50am tomorrow so that the club have less time to fill the seat to more tourists.Enough is Enough.Maybe i should " F off down the lane" while im at it too!!!

I object to season ticket holders describing themselves as the " most loyal" Arsenal supporters, I do not question their loyalty but the fact is they are simply the most AFFLUENT of the support base not the most loyal, there are thousands of red members who are either on a waiting list for season tickets or who are simply unable to AFFORD them but who nevertheless do their utmost to get tickets for as many games as possible , who buy club merchandise and pay memberships for kids and grandkids, they are no less loyal than those lucky enough to have season tickets, the fact that ALL tickets are so expensive whether for ST holders or " mere members" is the issue that should be addressed not just an elitist issue!

You've left someone out who you should also be sending a message too, it's a pity you all cant get together in doing that, is it not just as important.

The problem is it is too late to act. Arsenal fans took the ticket prices at the Emirates on the chin and now have to live with what we have.Good on the scousers for the protest and fan power ,you won't see it at Emirates. We also have Stan thousands of miles away who won't give a toss, sure a few thousand will stay away but they will all be back the week after ,quiet and comfy in their seats. Meek and mild and prepared to continue with a manager who is past his best !

Red Member - I'm afraid that argument is too subtle for them. They can't even work out those seats will be empty, not somehow filled with more 'vocal' supporters. They think acquiescing with having your loyalty exploited IS loyalty.

Shouldn't be to difficult to pull off as at least 3000 season ticket holders are missing at most games.

Snoopy and Nuttm Tiddy - you wouldnt be working for the club would you? Sometimes supporting a team is not just about buying a ticket, sometimes a stand needs to be made with a view to the longer term. This is something Arsenal supporters have trouble with understanding more than most. Look how Liverpool supporters talked their club out of implementing higher prices for games.

  83. Snoopy

    Mar 09, 2016, 10:41 #85809

I hope lots of the ST holders don't take up the option as we need our most vocal loyal supporters for this one. Pleased it's not Cat A.Agree with your post Nuttn Tiddy.

Brilliant idea and long overdue. They've taken the p*** out of us for years and only a protest like this will make Kroenke listen. Hopefully this is just the first step in getting that parasite out of our Club. We should never underestimate the power that "customers" have but we need to use direct action or they'll continue to shaft us.

The club deciding to charge cat B prices for this game for me was the final straw. I gave up my season ticket years ago but on hearing the decision to try and screw fans over by charging cat B when Watford in the premier league is a cat C game all day long I cancelled my direct debits on three red memberships yesterday. This club is nothing short of a disgrace in my opinion. Anyone continuing to put money into the current setup wants their brain tested.

Even with Watford having 9,000 tickets, how on earth are arsenal going to shift all the remaining tickets at CAT B Prices, they don't live in the real world, they should be offering CAT C, especially as I hear its been harder for Red members to secure seats this year. Arsenal are going to need Red members next year when the renewals stop flooding in and the tourist fans watch Chelsea or Spurs at Wewmbley.

I am amazed considering the club are charging category B prices for this considering the short notice of the match. So even as a lowly red member I will be joining any boycott by season ticket holders.

Hooray. Great news. The so called supporters have a reason to stay away. Lets us hope it becomes permanent and we see the last of them. Or to put it simple. Sod off.
