Online Ed: Impotent Arsenal draw 0-0 with Sunderland

Gunners Fire Blanks Up North

The banner now gets its exposure without anyone arguing…

It was a long way to travel for not very much in the end. There was a lack of guile and imagination in Arsenal’s play at the Stadium of Light, the inability to create a gilt edged chance.

25 years ago, the Gunners, under George Graham, went to Sunderland, then playing at Roker Park, and carved out a 0-0 draw. By the next time they played they were champions, due to Liverpool losing at Forest. It’s all about context. Sometimes a 0-0 can be a key point, job done, Champions League progress. Who will forget the nil-nils against Real Madrid and Villarreal in 2006? Yesterday’s 90 minutes will not live long in the memory.

Arsene Wenger kept faith with the same eleven that defeated West Brom last Thursday night. They created some chances, but over the 90 minutes, the home team had the better ones. The game does not bear a great deal of analysis. Both teams were seeking the win, Sunderland’s need probably greater. It was a game that needed a goal to become more interesting, but it never came.

Which brings us to Arsenal’s forward options. Giroud has now gone 14 consecutive Premier League matches without a goal. Thierry Henry was right. You don’t win the league if Olivier is your main option up front. Theo was tried with predictable results. Welbeck is a busy player, but the bottom line is that United let him go. He is useful, a good squad member, but not your go to man. Alexis is not a centre forward. Can play there, but wants to get too involved in the build-up play, so will get too attracted to the ball. All this was obvious last summer, and yet, we have gone through a campaign where a great chance to win the title was passed up because the team could not score enough goals. Arsenal are fourth and the reason is the number of goals scored is lesser than those above them, whilst the defending is no better than Leicester, Spurs and Manchester City either. Defence was another area of the team where strengthening was needed.

So we have another wasted season to look forward to in 2016/17 before we can all finally move on. Guardiola will arrive at Manchester City and they will be stronger next season. Antonio Conte will get Chelsea playing result football without the distraction of European competition. Jurgen Klopp will make wholesale changes at Liverpool and start the season with his own team. Manchester United will have a new manager, and if it is Jose Mourinho after all, will challenge again. Tottenham will hang onto their manager and best players and are improving with every month. Arsenal under Arsene Wenger will fall further backwards, undone by the lack of tactical preparation and motivation. Next season could be salvaged if they went out and got Diego Simeone and he learned to speak English in three months, but that isn’t going to happen. No, Arsene will stick around like the Queen Mother of Premier League football and every defeat, every setback will have the fanbase on his back. It’s horrible that it has come to this. It will come to something if he feels unable to join the lap of appreciation after the Villa game, but I seriously think that could turn very ugly if he does. How has it been allowed to reach this stage? Through abdication on the part of the board, bereft of any football expertise, unable to see what has been obvious to many since 2008. Arsene has lost the ability to put out teams that can win enough football matches when the pressure is on.

I still hear the view that he is Arsenal’s greatest ever manager. George Graham won two league titles in eight years. The team that Herbert Chapman built won four titles in five years. Arsene Wenger has won three titles in 18. Some fans and so-called experts need to read their history books.

Leicester’s win at home to Swansea confirmed the mathematical impossibility of Arsenal winning the title. I am looking at my notes to see if there is anything else worthy of mention regarding the football match that took place, and I can relay that Mike Dean did not seem biased against Arsenal. Perhaps he doesn’t like Sunderland either. There was a moment of Mannone madness that brought back a few memories, but on the quality of chances created, the Black Cats should probably have won this game. Jack Wilshere came on for a few minutes at the end, a little too late to save the season and I cannot remember him even touching the ball.

So Norwich, Manchester City and Villa to play. Let’s envisage defeat at Eastlands and home wins in the other two matches. 70 points for Arsenal. Manchester United would need to win all four of their remaining fixtures to finish fourth in that instance. Home to Leicester and Bournemouth, away to Norwich and West Ham. That perennial Champions League spot looks likely, but the fat lady isn’t singing just yet.

I am now on Twitter@KevinWhitcher01.

In the majority of matches we have the lions share of possession. How many decent guilt edge chances has Ozil genuinely created. He goes awol, often does. He's weak. As for Elneny, our standards are so bad that we are happy with a player who can play the ball sideways and has no physical presence. Does he dominate the midfield, how many matches has he won for us? Is he a Kante? Is he a Gerrard, Keane, Viera, answer is no, if you're happy with 4th then Elneny is clearly your man.

CT Gooner, sad isn't it ? this is all some AKB's have left to turn into a party and celebration, the spuds not winning the league, ignoring and forgetting that they're still ahead of us, this is how far wenger has regressed this club and held us back, Sad indeed. Go now wenger

GoonGer. I think the Champions League scenario is as follows. If Man City and Liverpool win in Europe and Man City finish in top 4 then Liverpool will just join the top 4 in Champions League. If however Man City finish outside top 4 and both Man City and Liverpool win in Europe then the 4th place misses out. I think the most teams a country can now have in Champions League is 5 as Spain have had this season.

Mark - nice to see some body else finds those curves so bloody awful. The idea was gleaned from the so called air flow problem that was once the theory behind Utds pitch problems at the time that was later dismissed. Wenger bought the theory wholesale though. 'The Emirates' isnt a very good ground at all - the silly name s bad enough. Its anticipated life span before major remedial works are anticipated is about 40 - 45 yrs. Believe it or not, it was a cut price job. About the same time as Wengers last contract expires, they ll be stripping parts of it out to stop it falling over.

we could never have been champions this year. The lack of activity last summer saw to that. If we cannot solve our perennial injury crisis we need to buy more players. We need another three players but with Wenger the most we will get is one maybe two and certainly not top top quality because "we cannot afford them". If Flamini Arteta and Rosicky leave we will promote Zeldiom and Wilocks amd may be Chuba Akpom and buy one player. Not a centre half we desperately need or a striker (too expensive unlike our tickets) but some middle of the road midfielder like Elneny and in September when the injury crisis starts Wenger will bemoan this and say what could he do about it. It is groundhog day every year and no one does anything about it! Wenger Kroenke and Gazidis out now.

We should have been champions this season, screwed over once again by bent officials unfair media coverage and pathetic support from large sections of our fan base.We have the seventh best stats in Europe narrowly behind Real M,Barca,PSG,Bayern,Atletico Madrid and Dortmund which shows they don't lie.The spuds and Leicester don't even feature in any of the attacking statistics, the only reason those two sides are up there is because of their negative hoof ball closing down styles, the diving they do and general thuggish behaviour of their players. Also the refs continue to pander to them giving 16 spot kicks compared to our two,yet they are praised and we are pulled apart.

What I don't understand is this Champions Lge scenario I keep hearing about. Spain had five teams in it this year, Barcelona won the La Liga and the Champions Lge and Sevilla won the Europa Lge and finished 5th. Real Madrid, Athletico M and Valencia qualified by finishing 2nd,3rd and 4th.. Can someone explain the difference to England's, if Liverpool and Man C win both Euro Comps?

I hear that OGL is now taking the credit for the 1-1 draw last night. Apparently WBA were so embarassed at being totally humilitated by our Barca-like demolition of them, they had to show some pride and roll up their sleeves, or, whatever. OK I'm off to take the tablets now.

@ Jason - Levy has fumbled around from manager to manager, Director of Football to Director of Football, spending £100's millions on players, with very little success. Yes, they've got a great training ground and stadium on the way, but the only reason it's noticeable that they've taken a big step forward is because in the last 19 years they have been firmly in our shadow because of Wenger's consistency. I hear on here a lot re: Wenger winning the FA Cup etc that one swallow does not make a summer - well the same applies to Spuds finishing above us (which isn't nailed on yet).

I suppose that whatever side of the debate we are on re-Wenger, we can at least for one fleeting moment as a fan base, become united at the relief that Spurs will not win the title now, but that Leicester, barring a total collapse, will.

@ GoonerRon You may mock GoonerRon, but the point i was trying to make was more of the mess that we were are in than saying Spurs are perfect. Yes Levy has made mistakes, but he has a genuine interest in their on field success, and the club have a positive structure. Kroenke, has no interest at all other than to screw the club out of three million every year. The fact that Wenger virtually runs the whole club from the managerial position is ridiculous. A proper captain is at least one who is a deserved automatic starter. Neither of ours should be anywhere near the team, let a loan a captain. Wenger has surrounded himself with a group of followers, not leaders. Just as a dictator likes it!!

The biggest issue I've always had with Wenger is not the February collapses, not El tippie-toe, nor 12 years without the title. No the biggest problem by a long shot is when he built the stadium he designed those annoying curves that let the wind in and the atmosphere out. I believe his further dreadful design for the walkie talkie building in the City also shows up his limitations. Wenger should be thrown out of grand designs forthwith. Kick him out of that football club as well!

So the best we've got to celebrate is Spurs not winning the league, very classy! I just won't buy into that crap, our team simply blew it. We should be asking how this crap won't happen again, not rejoicing at our inferior neighbor not winning. Wenger has been pissed at the wheel so long, that neighbor is now beating us.

The only groups of supporters who shouldn't be happy about the filberts winning the title under these circumstances are our cockerel riding friends and the fans of Derby and Forest who are the nearest Leicester get to playing regional rivals. However, it also seems that Jamee, Leaky and their mates at unsold anusol are also bleating about the injustice of it all. Bizarrely the AKBs seem to think Spurs drawing with WBA is some sort of validation of Wenger. Leicester will win the title, which is great, but Spurs are 5 points ahead of us with 3 to play. They have the better team now. Wenger clung on and on and it eventually happened.

Giroud shocking Ramsey shocking. The team lacks direction, urgency and are on easy st under Wenger who should resign but will not. As for GG lucky manager who was in the right place between Liverpools dominance and Man Utds dominanc. A manager that played drab safety first football. As bad as Wenger has become he will always be above GG. Although that is no defence of an arrogant, deluded, once great but now very ordinary Arsene Wenger. Obviously pleased at tonight's result but in a perverse sort of way frustrated as simply finishing above Tottenham has masked Wenger's failing too often in the past 10 years. Were we above them in the league now then I think he would be far less under the microscope than is now, at long last, the case. So do I ever want us to finish below them? Of course not. What I want is for our fan base to put it completely to one side in judging Wenger's suitability to stay a moment longer.

jj, good post, yes George Graham will always own wenger, imagine the fun he'd have now (just like fergie, Maureen, etc,) closing TOF and his team of little second rate dwarf technicians out, not allowing them to play their tippy tappy with real tactical know how, and steam rolling them with real men and players, you can just see TOF on the bench now, arms flapping spitting venom arguing with the third official and blaming the referee, and George sitting there cool as a cucumber loving it, and at the final whistle laughing his head off as TOF disappears down the tunnel in a huff refusing to shake hands. Bring back George Graham now.

Just had a look at how we've done this year Vs our last couple of years. Our points have dropped (79-75-probably 70 this year), our goals for have dropped (68-71-prob low 60s), while are goals conceded have been flat (41-36-prob 38). So our attacking play has just not been up to snuff, which is interesting given Wenger preached he had what he needed to win. I'm quite sure those of us who watch the Gooners week in week out realize how our play has slowed and lacked edge, others just choose to ignore this. The question on my mind is how will we be able strengthen this summer Vs our competition? They will all have money to spend, all have good-great coaches selling their teams, and likely have more adventurous boards, so I really am concerned we'll fall even further behind.

Highbury Boy and WABATTD - You're lucky (I think) that your other halves are prepared to watch football with you. Ms Arseneknewbest (we're not married fortunately...) thinks that football is for sad old men who also happen to be incurable masturbators (she said something a little stronger of course). She reserves particular candour for this website which she loathes, not least because we share a lap-top. Such is life. Some really good stuff on here today (possibly to do with the fact that the AKBs are hibernating). AW has seen to it that his legacy will not bear scrutiny against Chapman's, nor GG's. Those two delivered trophies in eras when the league was much more competitive and teams were more equally financed. In Weng's case, he has been in charge of one of the big four teams for far too long, so on probability alone, he should have been looking to deliver a title every four years. A bit of a simplification I admit, but success should be more achievable when you're part of a small elite. Buggins turn and all that. The chihuahua-man is only fit for cocking his leg on lamp-posts these days. Time for a change.

You're a stat person clearly. How many of those passes you've cited were backwards or sideways? How many were to our goalkeeper? You're right, though. We don't need an upgrade on him. He's got a tremendous engine. He creates loads of chances for teammates. He poses a genuine goal threat. That biclycle kick clearance in our own box with nobody around him -- absolutely brilliant!

As much as I agree with all the comments regarding world class strikers needed to score more goals, if we stopped conceding 2,3,and sometimes 4 goals ourselves in a lot of games maybe we might have more of a chance of winning games, cups , titles , not that I think wenger is the man to do this , but whoever comes in (fingers crossed) I hope they sort that out first and build from there.

12 years ago to the day we won the league at white hart lane. it's history and yet another feather in the cap of Mr Wenger. History doesn't lie. For those who seem to find they have a raving hard on when they kick the manager, keep at it.......... Wenger wasn't instrumental in our 2 recent FA cup wins??, he wasn't instrumental in the invincibles??, he wasn't highly involved in the move from Highbury??, he was lucky taking over a team going nowhere but won the league in his first season??. All history, but the make up of Wengers achievements. Whilst i'm fully aware this is all on his CV and times have been tough lately.... The man deserves credit for the seat you sit in and the football you watch. Most of you lot do not attend and i guess most do not live in London. Good report Kevin, it's doubtful any manager in our history has polarized the fan base quite like Arsene Wenger has done. If he had left 4/5 years ago, he would have been well thought of, sadly people are now so sick of him that the main feeling for a lot of those people will be sheer relief at his departure. It's a great shame that he has stained his legacy in this manner. Really hope we finish out of those Champ league places and if you had said to me ten years ago that I would want Utd to finish above us, I would simply have asked you what's the weather like on your planet!

Peter, yes indeed imagine the spuds finish above us (which is looking very very likely anyway) and prevent us from getting TOF's holy grail of CL football, oh how we laughed and sneered when that happened them, it's certainly come full circle now thanks to our no good past it manager, sackable offence on it's own. wenger out.

So it's all over for yet another season, and like i've said some of us knew the outcome long ago in fact years ago, but not the poor old AKB wengerites once again thinking this was our/their year when their messiah would finally crack it and prove all the doubters wrong, oh dear, just think of all those I/we told you posts and the gloating in them with egg on face everywhere drawn up and saved all ready for the send button from all the returning AKB's, and those rose tinted and circular articles already written and saved, also gloating and telling us how wrong we were and their messiah was right all ready to go, now all deleted or in the bin, or saved for next year (yet again) the paper must be very yellow by now, where did it all go wrong ? Ah well lads Always look on the bright side of life, there's always next season but don't bet on it. We shouldn't laugh really. wenger out.

Wengers time will be recalled in years to come as quite memorable, but the affection has all gone. In my views hes not close to having been our best boss. Im not sure who i d nominate though. The thing is, Wenger has presided over a period where many, many of our fans no longer care about our fortunes and in many instances want the team to lose matches so to force change. Its the worst indictment that a Coach can ever have brought upon him. No other Coach has even got close to the ignominy of that.

Nick T, your right TOF didn't build the Emirates (that's just another AKB myth) all he did was himself and his chief mouth piece (at the time)uncle bob made their way out between dumpers and cement mixers and real men to locate what would become the centre circle for a photo shoot for plenty of grinning and ego boosting photos wearing wellies on the wrong feet.

So I watched the match on TV with the wife. She saw Jack warming up early on in the game and said "Do you think he'll come on?". I replied I think he'll bring him on 10 minutes from the end for Ozil with the score 0-0. "What about the other subs" she said. "Oh! Welbeck and Theo for Giroud and Iwobi after 70 minutes!". Now I have never spent half an hour in football but if I can work out what he's going to do how easy is it for Sam and all the other managers? So f****ing predictable. Whether we make CL or not Ozil plays like he wants away while Sanchez should follow the path of Cesc and RvP if he wants to be a winner. With a poor defence and a weak 2nd division youth team Wenger will leave the Club in a far weaker position (pitch wise) than he found it. Balance sheet wise of course he's a winner.

Yesterday provided more evidence if it were needed of the extraordinary disconnect at Arsenal. We spend a record transfer fee on Ozil who goes on to provide a record number of assists but we dont buy a striker capable of making use of them. If that's not bizarre management I don't know what is.

And sadly thats the reality Peter and I agree entirely. I also think that the Board will not want to kiss goodbye to £8M by sacking AW. Depressingly AW will be with us come August time. The interviews and PR exercise we are seeing now is an attempt to shift the emphasis from a disappointing campaign to one of how Leicester FC have had the rub of the green etc. We will probably see more press releases just before 16/17 starts on the lines that we have not been able to sign anybody plus everybody is tired due to the Euros. For me GG lies second behind HC on the basis of that night at Anfield in 1989. AW now fourth behind Bertie due to European success.

Wenger advocates staying in an increasingly federal EU that in itself should be enough for those in their right mind to vote to LEAVE !,He said of the fatigue factor BEFORE yesterdays game that UEAFA statistics showed less rest meant nothing in the gaining or losing of points, AFTERWARDS, he said " we were a little bit jaded and tired" as an excuse for another ****e display ,, He contradicts himself all the time , his arrogance knows no bounds his stupidity no limits, it was STUPID not to buy any outfield players in the summer even more stupid to buy only one in January, it was STUPID to rely on known crocks and aging players, it is STUPID to have pre arranged subs except for those forced upon you,it is STUPID to not make provision for the relative strength's and weaknesses of your opposition but Wenger never does take note of this, his motivational skills are non existent, as seen in games vs WBA away Southampton home and away. Swansea at home, in the game at Old Trafford, games which cost us FOURTEEN points , there were others but too numerous to mention and it is not a phenomenon of this season alone but an ongoing problem for the last ten years !! He has lost credibility if he said the sun rose in the East id doubt his word ! GO , GO NOW AND DO NOT SLAM THE DOOR ON YOUR WAY OUT !

A good article but your quote "That perennial Champions League spot looks likely" may not come true. As I have said many times before if Man City win the Champions League and Liverpool win the other cup then only another 2 from the premiership will be allowed in next year (Leicester yes, but then it could be Spuds!!!!!) Maybe that will get this board to do soemthing positive for once and replace the manager. But as said before who would want to manage a team or play for a team that is not in the Champions League?

@ Jude J - just to apply some balance to your Ramsey bashing, 86/89 passes found an Arsenal team mate. Just on the striker debate, we clearly need something better, however, if you look at the run in since the defeat at OT, before yesterday we led in 7 games on the spin but only won 3. So whilst more goals may have helped, in the key stage of the season it's been our inability to see out games after leading (which before this season we were very strong at) that's killed us. If we held those leads we'd have gone into yesterday 1 point behind Leicester and 5 ahead of Spuds. It's a shame it's coming to this but Wenger's time should be up in my eyes. My line in the sand since we negotiated the commercial deals with Puma and Emirates (and could therefore start paying big fees for top players) was that a trophy or title challenge should reasonably be delivered each season. That hasn't happened so judging by my personal standards that should be it. I suspect my line in the sand is different to Kroenke's, however, so if Wenger stays I'll choose to get behind the team in the hope rather than expectation that something changes next season.

Not the greatest but he's certainly the luckiest manager we've ever had. Apart from inheriting George's defence and Dennis, he arrived at exactly the time that French footballers were becoming the best in the world, giving him a huge advantage over every other Premier League manager. If he'd arrived 10 years earlier or 10 years later he'd have won nothing.

In terms of the historical analysis of where Wenger ranks in the parthenon of our great managers, he has hung on too way too long and in doing so singularly failed to adapt to a dramatically different landscape to the one in which he initially did so well. Chapman was a visionary who built Arsenal and took us from relative obscurity to arguably the most famous club in the world in the 30s, in the days before European competition of course. Before that he had taken Huddersfield to three consecutive league titles. He also revolutionised the game itself with many innovations. Even if Wenger had gone in 2005 he would have ranked at best an honorouable runner-up. As Kevin has highlighted and many others are now saying, there is a genuine case for George Graham to rank as our second greatest manager ahead of Wenger. While it's true that he didn't exactly leave of his own accord, he didn't overstay his welcome either and the relative stagnation towards the end of his tenure was thankfully short. Sorry Arsene, you're third now with Bertie Mee (who also had the grace to see the signs and step down with grace) in danger of pushing you, very fittingly, into fourth place.

IMO Perhaps the biggest of the many AW myths is that he built the Emir*tes....he didn't!! What he did was speed up the process by being successful and winning titles (in his good old days) that coincided perfectly with the massive rise in interest in the PL due to SKY and their seemingly limitless marketing budget - next time your at the Emirates have a good look around and you'll realise there are a huge number who would never have gone anywhere near Highbury early 1990s or before....thats not to slag off 'new' supporters BTW merely an indication of how SKY brought the game to a whole new mass market and made football trendy. We are a massive club and the reality is he just brought the move date forward, in the end we'd have left Highbury one way or the other.....but probably around now instead of 2006, like the sc*m and west ham.

A depressing match at the fag-end of a very depressing season. What is even more depressing is the certain knowledge that we are in for more of the same in 16/17 and the likelihood of further purgatory 17/18+ after Wenger is offered a new contract by our pitiful board.

We have at our disposal one of the best creative players in Europe -- our best player by a mile this season -- who gets taken off yesterday. Meanwhile, a player who has been woefully out of form all season, who has done f**k all once again, somehow remains on the pitch. I'm not sure what's worse -- the fact that when fit, Aaron Ramsey is nailed down to play 90 minutes despite how woeful he is or the fact that Arsene Wenger thinks Aaron Ramsey is good enough to be an Arsenal player. But for his back-passes to Cech, the majority of his passes were to Sunderland players. Heaven forbid he signs a new contract, but if the manager is going to persist with mediocre players like Ramsey (Walcott, Giroud et al.), these are the results we can expect next season as well.

George Graham won SIX trophys in 8 years including a European trophy which was highly regarded at the time against a powerhouse team of the era, he broke the stranglehold a brilliant Liverpool side had on the league and effectively ended their dominance, his defence were a major factor in Wengers early triumphs too, and but for a bout of flu which resulted in a weakened side losing 1-2 at Stamford Bridge would have been the first manager of an invincible side , his faults were in not strengthening the title winning side of 91 and then the ill fated bung affair, I still believe he was a scapegoat punished to make a point against all the others who were doing exactly the same as him, Wenger it is forgotten has often had barren spells even in his heyday, but Leicester have put the myth of financial doping being the reason we did not compete during the early years of the move to the bowl and after to bed ! Ten years of failure in the league would not be tolerated by ANY of the other top clubs in Europe , we or some of us at any rate have been conned by the Arsenal hierarchy into believing this was the best we could hope for, perennial collapses in the league and the CL, two cup wins should not be allowed to obscure or excuse those failures, the debacle of last summers transfer window should not be excused, nor the relative inaction in January, Wenger has been negligent and in almost all jobs that is usually followed by the the sack ! The fact he has been negligent for the last ten years damms our board for what they are INEPT and not fit for purpose!!

Hey what's to worry about? Yesterday's resilient display, against a passionate committed Sunderland team fighting for their lives, stretched the unbeaten run to seven games. And that's two clean sheets in a row, no less. The spirit is good, the mental strength is good, and Jack is back. What is there to complain about? I think the annual lap of appreciation should involve him and should also be done by the team and the fans properly. Its nothing more than an acknowledgement of the patronage and support given to the Club by the fans after all. I wouldn't like to see that disintegrate into a shameless, bile filled demo (not that ill be there admittedly) Its generally a quite embarrassing event anyway as half the crowd have dispersed by the time it occurs. The Board and Wenger all know the score and the realities of many of the fans feelings deep down im sure.

The greedy, lying money men running our club have absolutely no on field ambition. Their only motivation being how much money than can make, how many lies they can tell the supporters and how many ways they can fleece fans for even more money. I gave up my season ticket 7 years ago and won't be going back until there is a new regime in place. I can't see anything changing unless enough season ticket holders tell these dispicable people to stick it. As for Wenger supposedly going out and spending 'big' this summer....I don't see it happening and even if he did I wouldn't trust him to buy the real characters, winners, warriors etc that we so badly need, it will more likely be a couple of pussies from the French 2nd division.....zzzzzzzzzz so bored of this endless, pitiful cycle of ****....wenger out, gazedis out, Kronke out

"I still hear the view that he is Arsenal’s greatest ever manager. George Graham won two league titles in eight years. The team that Herbert Chapman built won four titles in five years. Arsene Wenger has won three titles in 18. Some fans and so-called experts need to read their history books." Nice to read that Kev. I still think on balance there is a case to be made for Wenger as our main man. But with every passing season, the case gets more diluted. It doesn't strengthen. And the attitude of Wenger's delusional cult followers who believe the Club began it's existence with his arrival, further undermines his case. It's worth stating in his favour, that he has always been hugely respectful of our traditions and has never disregarded any of his predecessors. Credit to him for that. But we have at least one more year of this. And I wouldn't put it past the Board to get him on a rolling contract in 2017 - so spineless are they. I dread to think what might happen in terms of internal and external ructions, if that did happen.
