Arsenal favourites to land Leicester’s Kante

Could the French midfielder be the first of several major signings?

Arsenal favourites to land Leicester’s Kante

Kante – The rebuilding starts here?

Reports are gathering pace that Leicester City’s title winning midfielder N’Golo Kante could well be wearing the red of Arsenal come the start of next season. The Frenchman has been a revelation in his first season in English football, and since arriving from Caen last summer has certainly won his fair share of plaudits. His energetic performances have now led to interest from some of Europe’s elite, with Arsene Wenger apparently desperate to add Kante to his squad following another faltering campaign.

With the Leicester man thought to have a release clause in the region of £20 million within his current contract, Kante could well be set to leave the Premier League champions despite their incredible achievement. Kante is likely to be named in Didier Deschamps’ France Squad for the upcoming European Championships despite having only recently earned his first cap. The twenty five year old will battle it out with Premier League duo Yohan Cabaye and Moussa Sissoko for a place in the starting eleven for France’s opening Euro 2016 fixture against Romania, where they are the 1.36/1 favourites with bookmakers Betway to claim victory. You can find Betway’s English site here for a full Euro 2016 schedule.

With the likes of Dimitri Payet and Anthony Martial having taken the Premier League by storm this season, it is little wonder that France go into the tournament as the 4/1 joint favourites with Betway, alongside Germany. Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud are almost certain to join them in France this summer, with Giroud offered odds of 17/1 with Betway to claim the golden boot award despite his recent frustrations in front of goal.

With the Gunners having once again come up short in their quest for Premier League glory, pressure is mounting on Wenger to deliver next season. Kante’s arrival would likely be one of a number of new faces at the Emirates come August, with Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Villarreal’s Denis Suarez the latest names to be linked. Wenger’s men are the 7/1 third favourites for the Premier League title next year by Betway, behind Manchester City and Chelsea.

And off we go again ladies & gentlemen. The annual Arsenal transfer speculation bull**** show. Basically, if it hasn't happened by 1st June (i.e. ST renewal dealine day) then it's at best 50/50 that it will happen at all, and with ditherer-in-chief Arsene at the helm, even those are generous odds. Unless I am very much mistaken, was the transfer of Carvalho not a "done deal" this time last year? Fool me once Arsenal.....

Ryan - In about 5-6 month's time, as the weather starts turning nasty and Arsenal are on their traditional winter slump, you'll wistfully remember this piece, and think to yourself, "I've been had by Fleet Street, and companies who promote football for their own commercial interests". New signings that significantly improve the team no longer happen at this club. Our former manager isn't bothered and would prefer to trouser the cash himself. More likely that our selling tendencies will come out again this summer as Sanch and Ozil demand a discharge from captain Weng's ship of fools.

I'm sick of this nonsense. The most obvious line will be," Dis iz a Ueropean championship year and players will be tired and prices over inflated,so we will wait and look for only the best quality players", all in a French accent of course and meaning nothing.Haven't we been here before. When has he ever gone in hard with Man U. or Chelsea and out bid them for a player. Fraudster indeed!

MBG - summed it right up. In the next 3 months, the following things will happen: 1) Arsenal will be linked with every major outfield player barring Ronaldo, Messi and Bale, (2), there will be a few half-a***d attempts at signing a big name player (3) the board will state that AW has £150 million to spend (4) AW will prevaricate - refusing to spend more than he thinks is necessary (5) Then there will be cheap and nasty panic-buys as the season starts (6) In all probability one of Ozil, Sanchez or Bellerin will force a move to another club (7) Westlower and Badarse will resurface once the debris has cleared

Cant see Leics selling anybody and why would any want to go, save for silly cash on their table? Kante, stay where you are lad. None of us would wish Wenger on you! I reckon Leics will give the CL a right good effort. Play with grit and actually enjoy it! Dare i say it, like the Spurs did a few yrs back. They wont win it and they ll suffer in the PL but it ll be fun watching them spice up that CL from its usual drab offerings wont it. Whats worse than seeing Arsl and Man C pretend to be trying to compete in it every lack lustre season after season? Keep yr players Claudio and have some fun!

Don't need Kante. Please Mr Wenger, don't waste the club's money. We were good to go last August, and are good to go again. Why change a winning formula?

It's begun, Arsenal and Arsene tied to all quality players looking for a move. It was Sanchez last week, who is now at Bayern, today its Rob Holding, who is so good his team got relegated from the championship (not fair to blame him I know). Bottom line, believe it when you see him signing with Arsene by his side. To me, we need to add 3/4 starters (CD 30/DM 30/CF 60) , which is really saying we'll need to spend well over 100mil. We apparently have the funds, I just don't see that happening.

Peter Wain - spot on ! Haven't we had this bull, spoon fed to us for the last decade now ? Leicester will hold that side together for one more season as they square up for the CL - and actually try to make a fist of it, unlike some who are only there for the money. I'd be incredulous if Wenger repeats last years feat and signs no one for the outfield positions. But it's going to have to be 'shrewd' rather than 'name' signings. Given the new Managers at Chelsea - certain - City - certain and Utd - all but certain - we will be at the back of a lengthening queue.

I don't know who's coming in but I hope the other rumour is correct and that Theo will be sold to whoever.Unfortunately he has not added to his game since he was signed aged 16. His passing, first touch, body strength, appreciation of game situations, tactical awareness are not good.If he had scored masses of goals it would not matter but even there he has never been consistent. So it's best he leaves although I'm not sure the manager has covered himself in glory helping Theo improve his general level of performances.

Kante is a proper no nonsense player who plays for the Ath Mad of England. Why on earth would he go to a club who are designed to fail season after season. The above is not an article but a dummy posting from Arsene's Ideas Dept (AID) and one that may get the likes of WeStIE back .... No reason why Leicester could not win the CL next season and with their current supremacy over the trad top four RABBLE which will give impetus to other clubs to really push on and that is why the likes of Pochie is telling his players to forget about Arsene FC - everyone else in the game has and imagine the laughs the Leicester lads will have to know the Ostrich wants them .... Pathetic.

We will get plenty of spin ref who we are linked with, once season tickets have been renewed and we have signed only potential ( a youngster or 2, not the finished article) we will resume groundhog day.... Cant see Kante or anyone like him coming, rather, we will lose Sanchez/Ozil the way its going......Wenger and Regime Out.

Here we go again right on queue, we're been linked with this one that one, Le Fraud is keeping an eye on him (which one) TOF had been watching him for a while now, we're favourites for him (it must be ticket renewal time) and as always the little gullible sheep are lapping it up, some fans will believe anything, will they ever learn. You couldn't make it up.

Kane will want to join a club that wins titles like the club he will be leaving so that rules out Arsenal
