As the international break rumbles on, the manager will doubtless slope back to his lair to lick his wounds, add to his list of enemies, plan his revenge and adjust his mental state from whatever it currently is to "I'm perfectly safe and everything is absolutely fine".
What, in reality has changed?
1. Arsenal are on a substantive losing streak.
2. Managerial enemies are circling.
3. He has lost the team.
4. The team have stopped being able to get a win of any kind against Premier League opposition.
5. The media are scenting blood.
6. The thinking parts of the media are beginning to recognise that Mr Wenger is not a good manager.
7. There is a specific, marching "Wenger Out" movement. It has some money behind it.
8. There is active discontent within the stadium. This will build as the strong undercurrent of discontent, which we are all aware of finds its voice.
9. The AKB's are starting to abandon him.
These are new and positive signs but we absolutely cannot afford to be complacent. Those who want Wenger gone need to take active steps to dig the Japanese Knotweed out. Write actual paper letters to the club. Write to Journalists. March with the Wenger Out movement. Send them money. Go on the media if you can get access through phone-ins etc. Confront those who wish to retain Mr Wenger with the strong arguments against his having a new contract. The greatest of these is the continued decay in the Club's fortunes. Arsene Wenger was given charge of the best club in London. In 20 years he has now made it the third best club in London.
Do some work. Put pen to paper. Protest. Send Money. Keep an eye on Twitter for protest activities you can be involved in whether you are in England or abroad. Fight to get your football club back. Tear and slash and burn and poison that knotweed until it no longer clings on.
