I read with interest the response from a Steward to a previous article entitled There may be trouble ahead, and whilst I can sympathise with some of what is said by the steward, I cannot help but feel there is a lack of consistency here which only makes people less willing generally to ''understand'' or ''sympathise'' with Arsenal’s stewards.
When one read the statements…
2 ) Whilst "some" might prefer standing, they would be & do block the view of others around them, including young children! Also, I would point out that everyone has paid a substantial price for their seat, so therefore are within their rights to complain that others are blocking their view.

3) The stewards are only trying to keep the place SAFE for everybody & trying to ensure that EVERYBODY enjoys the game
…one cannot help but recall that when it comes to the away section and the same ''offences'' being committed - after all remember the LAW IS THE LAW and the stewards are making the game SAFE for EVERYONE - we have previously been told that it is not always practical to enforce it and may lead to further trouble and therefore it is not enforced to the same degree. (As can be seen at too many games, Man Utd and Spuds being the most obvious)
Now maybe things will change this year and we will find out on Sunday, however it seems churlish to lecture everyone on the LAW and then decide not to enforce it in certain sections simply because it may be somewhat harder to do so.
It is downright hypocritical to expect the rest of the crowd to have respect for enforcement of the law - never mind the actual law, if directly in front of them a good number are flaunting it without consequence.
Such double standards lead not only to anger and stubborn mindedness (and are thus self defeating) but also detract from the authority of the stewards in the first place
