Arsenal are doing themselves few favours when compared to Real Madrid and Ajax

Get the trophies out of Directors’ Lounge and into the Museum!

Arsenal Museum Entrance: Reflection of a small club mentality?

I took my 2 kids to Arsenal to do stadium tour recently and it was in general an enjoyable experience with plenty of time for photos and our tour guide was very knowledgably about the stadium and our club. And the museum is an improvement on the Highbury one with lots of interactive things for the kids. But then I thought of the tours I did of the Real Madrid and Ajax stadiums after our most recent games there. The most impressive thing on their tour is the trophy cabinet or in the case of Madrid trophy rooms.

While doing the Arsenal tour, if you look carefully you will spot a championship and FA cup trophy in the directors’ lounge and there are some trophies in the museum. But I wanted to see 13 league titles and 10 FA cups in a row standing next to the European Cup Winners’ Cup and others. It made me feel worse knowing that a few of our top brass see these cups every game but we won’t be given that opportunity unless we pay to do a stadium tour.

Which raises the question of whether this is just my view or is something wrong going on here?

And remember – as these trophies are all replicas there is no reason why both the directors’ lounge and the museum can’t have the same trophy.
