A continuation of the parts one and two posted a while back…
Favourite away ground visited 2006-07
Millennium Stadium - 45%
Anfield - 19%
Old Trafford - 15%
St James’ Park - 5%
Almost every ground Arsenal played at, and some we didn’t, got at least one vote. Reading’s Lego extravaganza seems inexplicably popular, but then it is as poorly decorated as Ashburton, so it probably felt quite like home.
Most despised Premiership player
A Cole - 27%
F Lampard - 17%
D Drogba - 10%
C Ronaldo - 9%
R Savage - 6%
Naturally a huge number of others got votes, but overall about 60 per cent of votes went to members of the team in blue. Our neighbours in N17, meanwhile, are hardly worth getting worked up about any more, it seems.
Most annoying Premiership manager
Jose Mourinho - 58%
Sam Allardyce - 21%
Alex Ferguson - 7%
Martin Jol - 6%
Neil Warnock - 6%
To me Fat Sam is the most annoying as he clearly has the sense of humour of a Nazi death camp guard with corns. At least Mourinho attempts to entertain now and again. Fergie must be wondering what he has to do these days to get us to hate him. He wins the League for the 85th time and we just pat him on the back.
Is the English Premiership boring now that there are such a small number of clubs who can realistically win the title each year?
No - 66%
Yes - 34%
Presumably this applies only as long as we remain among that small number.
Best Premiership referee
Howard Webb - 29%
Alan Wiley - 23%
Phil Dowd - 15%
Graham Poll - 10%
None of them - 10%
Worst Premiership referee
Graham Poll - 36%
Mike Riley - 24%
Uriah Rennie - 19%
Rob Styles - 9%
Graham Poll’s popularity goes up and down like a tart’s drawers. Currently worst, he was voted best ref for the previous two years, but prior to that was most unpopular, and five years ago 90 per cent listed him as “most despised”. As the only man to appear on both lists this year, he certainly manages to arouse strong emotions.
Favourite other team
None - 24%
Celtic - 10%
Barnet - 8%
Leyton Orient - 5%
Votes went from Aberdeen to Zaragosa, but for many, me included, there’s only one team. And “none” is becoming more popular, as strangely are Celtic. What have they ever done for us?
Favourite Highbury pub
1. Gunners
2. Twelve Pins
3. Rocket
4. Highbury Barn
5. Auld Triangle
Only half could be bothered to cast a vote, so this is clearly not an issue that many worry about. A wide spread of nominations, which probably reflects the fact that there’s no pub big enough to get everyone in. The above were the top five in that order, but the percentages barely troubled the scorer.
Best national newspaper for Arsenal coverage
Sun - 20%
Times - 16%
Mirror - 14%
Observer - 14%
Telegraph - 12%
Rupert Murdoch will be happy, as he owns the top two, but surely if you want to avoid the worst of the hype, rumour, hypocrisy and plain lies you have to ignore the red tops?
Best TV football coverage
Sky - 71%
BBC - 14%
No preference - 14%
ITV - 1%
Another win for Uncle Rupert. But Steve Rider, Ally McCoist, Jim Rosenthal, Clive Tyldsley, Andy Townsend, Robbie Earle – your boys took a hell of a beating!
