It has come to my attention that Herman the German is extremely unhappy about sitting on the bench for the Gunners. Some people may think that after four years of being Arsenal first choice that he has the right to be angry about being dropped. But if you look back over the Lehmann years there are so many blunders and moments of stupidity from the so-called German number one (only because there’s no-one else).
In only his second game when we played Man Utd he decided it would be funny to throw the ball at Ronaldo’s head, and no matter how funny it was because Ronaldo is a prick, it still should have been a red card. And remember when he stamped on Robbie Keane’s foot and gave away a penalty against the Totts? Ok, it ended as a draw and we won the league, but had it been a different case and Spurs won the game, that could have been it for the league.
Then there were all of his diving antics, he would roll around the pitch like there was no blinking tomorrow. Eventually refs became used to it and would ignore him. Also there was the fact that he loved either missing the ball completely or just simply catching it and then spilling it. How can he complain when in the first two games of the season he makes two errors. Ok, against Fulham we managed to come back and win the game, but against Blackburn it cost us two points as the game ended in a draw.
He is then thankfully injured playing for his country, giving either Almunia or Fabianski a chance to grab the first choice spot. Wenger gives the more experienced Almunia a chance to prove himself and he takes the chance. He is in great from, but what pi**ed me off is the fact that Lehmann expects to walk back into the team, telling the German coach he will be back in goal by Christmas. Er no, doesn’t work like that Herman.
So when it comes to Arsenal against Slavia Prague (what a game) he is furious to find out he only a sub. He then tells Wenger not to insult him by leaving him to rot on the bench. Wenger being Wenger ignores it and again leaves him there for Liverpool. Meanwhile Herman receives warnings from Beckenbauer to shut up, and the young Fabianski warns Lehmann that he will be number one by next season. So no one really likes Lehmann at the moment.
But in all honestly if any professional really looked at his goalkeeping technique they would very quickly realise he is shocking. I am 16 years old and have been a goalkeeper since I was very young. When I watch Lehmann I have noticed that any goal that goes in is either a mistake or is quite easily saveable. What Lehmann does is dive in a really odd way. He dives over the ball with an arched back. Nine times out of ten after diving he lands where he was standing. It is a shocking way of attempting to save the ball.
But Lehmann’s biggest mistake ever was of course getting sent of in the Champions League final, making it almost impossible to have a chance of winning. Ok, it is not necessarily his fault as Eto’o is a world class player, but still trust Lemon to be the first ever player to get sent off in a Champs League final – it’s being running for 50 years! It is bloody typical that it had to be him! So Jens Lemon please shut the hell up because you are getting on, you are not what you used to be and Arsenal have moved on. So please do us all a favour and go and abroad, or to Portsmouth!
