Onlinegooner has been contacted by the creator of a character known as ‘The Vicar of Arsenal’. He describes the vicar as “inevitably a football enthusiast, he is loosely in the vein of a contemporary Alf Garnett, who enjoys a rant and a rave, incorporating somewhat un-PC rambles, whilst overall, attempting to take on a philosophical approach to life, in his own twisted way.”
The vicar is a nod towards the kind of comedy embodied by Alexei Sayle and Al (Pub Landlord) Murray.
To get an idea of the man in his most basic form click here to see his introductory youtube offering.
More of theVicar’s clips can be seen once you are on that page by clicking on ‘theaskingchair’ at top right of the screen. Or just click here
The Vicar of Arsenal also has his own myspace page where “my fan base is growing by the day, obviously with Arsenal fans and ‘players’ - there are quite a few of them!”
The Vicar’s creator wants to help spread the word amongst more devout Gooners and help make Arsenal the first club in England and Europe to have a well known comedic spokesman. (Ed’s note – Didn’t Chavski get there first with Peter Kenyon?)
Peace be with you.
