A Rallying Call To Gooners Everywhere

We must fight on and win this league for Eddie…

A Rallying Call To Gooners Everywhere

Let’s see the fans up the ante for a fallen comrade

The events of this weekend have been very difficult to come to terms with. The loss of two valuable points in stoppage time to as usual a dodgy penalty is hard enough to take, but the horrific injury to Eduardo has completely overshadowed everything. I have seen injuries like this before in football, Jimmy Bullard’s the most recent, but when it happens to one of your players it is truly devastating and really upsetting. I am a grown man but I was and still am seriously choked about what has happened to Eddie. Watching the match again later that night I was close to tears, but these feelings soon turned to anger as I have thought for a while that this was likely to happen to one of our players.

I know Martin Taylor is devastated about what has happened but I will still never forgive him for the X rated tackle that could cost Eduardo his football career. We have been targeted by these thugs for too long now and I would happily see him banned for the rest of this season if not longer. One has to take responsibility for one’s actions and just as if I had killed some accidentally in my car I would still have to face the inevitable consequences.

The typically weak response by the pundits and media is laughable but expected. We all know what they would be saying if Eboue or Flamini had committed that offence but that’s another issue.

However just like Eduardo has been this evening we must all be defiant, fight on and really get behind the team no end starting with Aston Villa. We as fans can really make a difference for the boys and we have to really show up for our remaining games both home and away and sing our hearts out.

We deserve to win this title, so the club and we fans must put in everything now so we can see our cherished number 9 with a championship medal around his neck, and his team-mates bowing down in front of him a la Bobby Pires in 2002.
