Online ticket application woes of a red member

Supply. Demand. Never the twain shall meet when Arsenal are in with a shout of silverware…

Online ticket application woes of a red member

Will you be there? Probably not…

Like possibly the majority of Arsenal members, I’m a Red Level member. I’ve been so since the beginning of the season. Nothing to do with gloryhunting or being a so-called plastic fan. But due to the fact that I finally got a full time job, I could actually afford to start going to matches on a regular basis. I was ideally looking to attend at least five or six matches at the Grove this season. So far, I’ve been to three. Against the almighty Portsmouth, Newcastle and Birmingham. The only really chance of getting to see a big game is hoping someone puts their tickets on the ticket exchange.

Obviously, as we’ve been doing quite well this season, the demand for tickets get higher. None more so than on Wednesday morning. After spending over twenty minutes waiting to log on to buy tickets for Reading, I then have to spend another twenty minutes actually logging in, and for some reason have to log in one more time at another twenty minutes.

I still can’t access the site and so the only real chance I will have of getting any tickets for the rest of the season may well be Champions League fixtures - if I’m lucky.

Fair enough, give Silver Members access to tickets first, but does it really have to be such a long gap before the remaining tickets get released to red members?

Once the red tickets become available the online box office and phone lines crash and you’re left waiting hoping that there are still some available by the time you actually get through.

I’m sure there are solutions available. One being grant more silver memberships. Another being to cut down the wait time between the ticket sales, I mean who really needs a month to purchase a ticket?

Until I reach number 1 from 62,864 on the season ticket waiting list, I suppose I’m just entitled to watch mid-table teams play in their favoured 7-2-1 formation when they come to the Arsenal instead of a proper football match.
