Arsenal’s 2008 is 1989 revisited

Is football cyclical? Well let’s hope so, nineteen years on from a run-in that aged all who remember it

Arsenal’s 2008 is 1989 revisited

The odds might be against us now, but it can be done

There are a few similarities between 1989 and this season.

We have a young emerging side – remember Rocky, Thomas etc.

Some of the pitches have been crap Wigan, Man Utd in FA Cup, In ‘89 our own pitch was cutting up rough. And remember the 2-2 away game at OT then when Tony Adams put through his own goal? Awful surface.

Controversy that spurred us on. For losing Eduardo in controversial circumstances, think Paul Davis breaking Cockerill's jaw and getting a long ban.

Draws against poor sides - Millwall, Charlton, Wimbledon.

Let’s hope in the big games away we can compensate, starting at Chelsea on ‘grand slam Sunday’. Keep the faith Gooners everywhere - it is still very much alive.
