The end is nigh… woe is me… we're all doomed. Well done fellow Gooners for your knee jerk reaction to the last month’s blip in form. Yes we're all p*ssed off with only getting four draws and an unlucky defeat against the Chavs, but the time for a reality check is now.
Just cast your minds back to the start of the season and the world and his wife had written us off. And worst of all our ugly neighbours would be taking our place in the top four hierarchy. The trouble with this little scenario is Arsene didn't read the script and the team have force fed all the pundits a huge slice of humble pie for the best part of six months with the Fleet Street hacks having to backpeddle like mad (a la Seaman ) and make Arsenal favourites for every trophy and keep banging on about how great we are.
In the middle of all this flattery and hyperbole we've forgotten the bigger picture that our genius manager is painting, we are watching a young team grow up in public and a young squad raising the bar on a weekly/monthly basis. Just try a little time travel back to the first game of the season against Fulham and ask yourself if this team of kids has exceeded all your expectations up to this point.
If not… what planet are you currently living on?? Only two league defeats, semi final of the Can't Care Less Cup, top for months in the league, a sold out stadium every match, monies in the bank for transfers and we aren't owned by the mafia (yet).
Yeah, perhaps we're entitled to a little wound licking and disappointment ‘cause our balloon is slowly deflating… but we are now at a stage in the season where we can either give up and start booing the team (who are these morons who do that?) or we can accept that this season is a step too far but that we are on the cusp of greatness and rally behind this fantastic young team when they need us most!!
