Why the transfer stagnation now Highbury is history?

Kaka – Come on mate, you know it makes sense!

I am alas a lapsed fan now and don't get to see the Gunners as often as I would like owing to work commitments (shifts). I do and have always have taken a keen interest in my beloved Arsenal’s fortunes though. I along with all other Gooners and fair minded fans marvelled at Arsene’s ability to compete with Chelsea & Man Utd’s millions in the transfer market on limited funds owing to the small capacity at Highbury. What he achieved with the relatively small transfer funds in comparison with the other two bordered on miraculous. We were told we would have to move to a bigger stadium to be able to compete.

Well we now are coming close to the end of our second season in our new home, with all home matches in all competitions including the Carling Cup bringing in close to £3 million a time. The Arsenal Board at frequent intervals in the press repeatedly stated that Arsene has substantial funds to strengthen the squad.

At last, think all Gooners. But when asked what he would do with these funds he told everyone he would give the money back. What the hell?? I am not talking about a clearout of the present squad, but maybe three or four world class names to stimulate the squad and the fans and get people excited for the start of the new season. Let’s go to Milan and say to Kaka: ‘You’re now in an ageing team, come and play for a young exciting one who played your Milan off the park in the San Siro.’ Let’s go and get Eto’o and a top class defender as well. It’s all well and good calling yourself one of the best clubs in the world but sometimes you have to prove that and put your money where your mouth is.

Another season is nearly over and done with and our super kids are trophyless again. How much longer will Cesc wait? Come on Arsene, I know you don't like spending on so called superstars but sometimes you just have to.

Anyway just the thoughts of a frustrated Gooner, and before I finish may I wish Eduardo a speedy and trouble free recovery and look forward to seeing him back in the colours as soon as possible.
