Will Arsenal actually miss the departing players?

If Flamini and Adebayor were one-season wonders, then the answer is probably not

Will Arsenal actually miss the departing players?

Gilberto – Hardly got a game last season

If my fellow Gooners have all been watching the transfer speculation regarding the players who are supposedly queuing up to leave the club you would think we are on the verge of imploding at Arsenal. Hleb has joined Barca, Flamini and Lehmann have gone, Gilberto Silva is going to Greece, and Ade wants to go to Milan (although they may not want him anymore).

Well just take a look at those players, and ask yourself will we really miss them? Ok, I admit Adeabayor and Flamini had a good season for us last time around, but do you think they could be trusted to do it again next season? Almunia is for the time being first choice goalkeeper now and Gilberto hardly got a game last season. Cast your mind back to last summer when Thierry Henry left us: the press and TV pundits predicted we might not even get in the UEFA Cup and look at the season we had.

Arsene has already brought in Aaron Ramsey and Samir Nasri to join Denilson, Diaby, Cesc and some bloke called Rosicky. I’m sure Wenger has other targets in mind as I think we are missing a bit of steel in midfield now and I’m sure the boss knows that and will buy someone to fulfill that role. Fellow Gooners - don’t watch these other clubs throwing money about and panic ok? Arsene has never let us down before and I’m sure he never will - he does love the club you know.

My own opinion is that we need three more players through the spine of the team: centre back, midfield and a forward (if Adebayor leaves, which I think he will). Last but not least we seem to have some young English players on the verge of breaking into the first team squad as well, so please don’t despair. When our young players play the type of football only Arsenal can next season just sit back, watch and glow with pride as we play Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and that lot down the road off the park yet again. I firmly believe good times are very close again Gooners.

Keep the faith ok.
