I sat down for my tea break at work earlier this week and flicked to the back page of my paper. “Wrighty: I fear for the Gunners” Wow. What a shock. At a time where the hacks and so called experts are queuing up to take popshots at the Gunners, I’m hardly suprised that Mr Wright has jumped on the bandwagon. After all, this is the man that in the past actively encouraged his son to join Chelsea over Arsenal (live on the TV after the 2005 Cup Final!), constantly wrote articles about why Thierry Henry should join Barcelona in 2005-2006 (and defended this by saying he would have left Arsenal for a “bigger” club if he had the chance) and wrote constantly about our impending doom last summer after we actually had sold Henry, even saying Sperz had a great chance of finishing above us and famously writing off our title chances (we finished four points off the top).

Now Mr Wright has opened his mouth once again. I’m not surprised this time, I have come to expect it from him. But what really p*ssed me off is Wrighty starting his column with “My old Arsenal team-mate David Rocastle would be turning in his grave right now if he looked at what is happening with the Gunners.” Would he Ian? Because we have sold one midfielder who scored 11 goals in three seasons (and replaced him arguably a better player) or because we’ve lost a utility player to a club not even in the Champions League with one good season behind him? The state of Arsenal Football Club is a big point in debates right now for us Gooners, but most of us (I believe) are not as worried as some so-called newspapers would have you believe.

But what really angered me is Wrighty putting words into the mouth of Rocky. How f***ing dare he?? How would Rocky feel if he saw his old position being occupied by Cesc Fabregas? What would he think if he saw our 60,000 seater stadium? Would Rocky appreciate the two doubles, unbeaten season and European Cup Final achieved by his football club since his passing? Ian Wright, we are used to your bullsh*t. But don’t put words into the mouth of a real Arsenal legend just to sell your f***king newspaper column.
