Three very young players have all recently received prestigious squad numbers. Jack Wilshere aged just 16 gets the 19 shirt, Aaron Ramsey aged 17 was awarded with the 16 shirt following his transfer, while Carlos Vela who, in comparison is a rather ancient 19 year-old, now wears the 12 shirt.
Seemingly a massive boost to these particular youngsters, all of whom look to be well capable of handling the pressure of a place in the first team squad. But how do you suppose this makes the other youngsters at Arsenal feel? How do you think the other young men currently pressing for first team football will react and how do you believe they should react?
Given that pretty well all the following youth players: Jay Simpson (19), Gavin Hoyte (19), Mark Randall (18), Kieran Gibbs (18), Fran Merida (18), Rui Fonte (18), Nacer Barazite (18), Henri Lansbury (17), Sanchez Watt (17), Paul Rodgers (18), James Dunne (18), Harvard Nordtveit (18), Rhys Murphy (17) and Rene Steer (18) were all ahead of Jack in the pecking order until the start of this season how must they now feel?
Will the effect of young Jack leap-frogging a lot of rather classy players be positive or negative? Will they want to stay at Arsenal and fight for a Carling Cup place or will they now want to go out on loan and prove their worth to a wider market? Or do they perhaps, being pretty tasty guys themselves, appreciate what a rare young talent has been added to the first team squad?
