What exactly is the reason behind Arsenal’s injury woes?

Brand new season, same old story. Time for the club to get external help

What exactly is the reason behind Arsenal’s injury woes?

Diaby – Out for a month

Now I know this is becoming a huge bugbear of mine and I expect the usual assertions of “everyone’s team suffers from this” and “injuries are part of the modern game” but once again like most of last season our injury list is absolutely shocking. Going into last night’s game we had something like eight first team players out. Bloody hell the Premiership has not even started yet!

Kolo, Phil, Cesc, Abou (who has happily taken over Tommy’s spot on the Arsenal sick bed) and also Nasri (notice he has knee/thigh injury). I hope RVP and Rosicky are explaining to Samir to be careful because that’s the same “knock” they had last year which kept them out three quarters of a season.

Jokes aside I just cannot believe the state we are in. I feel so sorry for Le Boss. He can’t compete in the transfer market as he wants due to financial constraints and he cannot ever get a fit first team squad. I have said this for a while but I would like the fitness and conditioning staff to be looked at externally to see if we are missing a trick.

I know for a fact that West Ham who suffered horrendous injuries last year invited a sports science group from a university to investigate they’re problems and they actually concluded that their training ground was doing a lot of damage to the players. Now I cannot believe that there is an issue with London Colney as it’s state of the art but surely something has got to be looked at.

Now I hear the argument that most teams are suffering this time round, largely due to Euro 2008. My mate told me the other day “but look at United. They got loads of players out.” But I don’t give a s**t about them. I care about my team and if we can’t compete in the transfer market least give Wenger a fighting chance with a healthy squad.
