Alan ‘Smudger’ Smith joins The Gooner…

…editor Kevin Whitcher and his co-author Alex Fynn to flog a few books

Alan ‘Smudger’ Smith joins The Gooner…

Smudger: The Legend that is…

Okay, I’ve spared you this flagrant self-publicity for oh… days now, but my publishers will lynch me if I don’t use the opportunity of a position of privilege to plug a couple of book signing sessions tomorrow (Thursday).

So these are to sign copies of ‘Arsènal: The Making of a Modern Superclub’ for which Alan Smith was interviewed to give a picture of life at the club in the pre-Wenger days when David Dein was effectively the top man at the club. As he’s featured, Alex Fynn has dragged him out to help us shift a few copies!

First signing is Thursday lunchtime (12.30 to 1.30) at Waterstone's Leadenhall Market in the City. The full address of the store is 1-3 Whittington Avenue, Leadenhall Market, EC3V 1PJ. There’s a map here. If you can’t make it on the day, but wish to reserve a signed copy, then phone 020 7220 7882.

But we’re not done with the former Arsenal hero yet. No way sir. Not when there is another shop to flog copies at. So later on Thursday, from 7pm, we’ll decamp to Borders in Islington. Full address - The N1 Shopping Centre, Parkfield Street, Islington, London N1 0PS. Map here. To reserve a signed copy if you can’t make it, the number’s 020 7226 3602

Reviews of the book can be read elsewhere on this site, Arsenal World and A Cultured Left Foot for those that want to know more before deciding to buy.

And there’s an adaptation come extract you can read to get a flavour of the book that was printed recently in The Observer sports section

If you wish to buy the book by post, onlinegooner readers can get over £2 off the £12.99 publishers’ online price, making the book £10.91 plus postage and packing. Simply click here and select ‘buy now’. In the window that opens enter the word gooner in the promotion code box and the deduction will reduce the price when you press the ‘go’ box next to it.

There’s two more signings on the horizon in Stevenage and St Albans – less glamour there though. Just my good self and Mr Fynn. Those are at branches of Waterstones at noon on Saturdays 4th October (Stevenage) and 25th October (St Albans).

That’s the end of this infomercial. Thanks for your attention!
