A self-confessed whinger rants about the Villa game

Arsenal have the consistency of a Cadbury's flake

Arsenal v Villa: Was anyone really surprised how poorly the Gunners played?

Aaaaaargh!

It didn't even need the cretinous Mike Riley to flap his cards to turn this game into an exercise in pure pain. It didn't need the grim confirmation that Villa not only played well but have become our first, genuine bogey team of the 21st Century. The only thing for sure is we are in a sadomasochistic relationship with this team and I can't work out which way round it is. Like a dog returning to vomit, like a serial criminal re-offending, like a wasp on a jam butty at your summer picnic; you can guarantee this lot will screw up again and again and again. First ever home loss to Villa under Le Boss, first ever home defeat to Hull, more defeats now away to Fulham in the last three seasons than in the past half century - these stats smell really bad.

You can talk tactics until you are blue in the face (note to manager- Bendtner up front on his own at home is truly the law of diminishing returns), commitment, courage, whatever you want. Doesn't matter, this team is a nightmare - it absolutely doesn't work in the most blindingly obvious way and we are stuck with it for the rest of the season. And stop dreaming that Le Boss will flash the cash because he won't. So there is no point booing Bendtner, however sh*t he was. There is no point booing the bloody team, however stupid they are - and they are really, really stupid. Recidivist, low curs who have the consistency of a Cadbury's flake. They are our all our nightmares. And once in a while they show us what footballing dreams are made of.

I propose, like those angry Vietnam Yippies who attempted to levitate the White House, we can all gather outside the 'Irates stadium and project our collective psyche at this daft team and stubborn bugger of a manger and direct our collective power to force the sods into a serious tilt at the cups. All the cups, even the crap one that is the equivalent of Milky Way. Because the only other certainty this season is that watching us collectively flounder our way to a desperate 4th place finish is an expensive waste of time.
