Arsenal Women: Find out who Jonas Eidevall's Gunners have drawn in Continental Cup

The draw for the Continental Cup has been made

Arsenal Women draw Villa in the Continental Cup Arsenal have been drawn at home against Aston Villa in the quarter finals of this season’s Continental Cup.

The Gunners will take on Villa at Meadow Park on either Saturday, January 28 or Sunday, January 29, with the precise date and kick-off time set to be finalised in due course.

Arsenal enter the competition at the quarter-final stage after finishing second in the Women’s Super League last season, whilst Villa finished top of Group A thanks to wins against Sheffield United and Durham in an unbeaten group stage campaign that included two penalty shootout successes.

The final WSL game of the calendar year for both sides saw Arsenal run out 4-1 winners at Villa Park. The Gunners had to come from behind after Kirsty Hanson’s early goal, but turned the game around after an own goal from Rachel Corsie before Miedema, McCabe and Jordan Nobbs all got on the scoresheet.

Villa are currently seventh in the WSL after making a flying start to the season. Talismanic summer signing Rachel Daly has been outstanding upfront (England fans will know her as the Lionesses’ right back!), and has scored eight WSL goals in just nine games.

Jonas Eidevall’s side exited last season’s Conti Cup at the quarter final stage with a disappointing loss at the hands of Manchester United, as Alessia Russo scored the only goal of the game five minutes from time to knock Arsenal out.

The Gunners haven’t won the competition since 2017-18, when Vivianne Miedema scored the only goal as Arsenal beat Manchester City in the final.
