Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has had his say on Mikel Arteta’s recently success at Arsenal.
The instrumental Dein who was a prominent figure to both Arsenal and the Premier League between 1983 and 2007 spoke to Sky Sports recently about the club’s current form.
Dein explained how impressed he has been with not only the Gunners’ recent results, but also how the team have been playing, branding it as ‘a pleasure to watch’.
The businessman seemed unsurprised at Arteta’s breakthrough following some years of adaptation since taking the reins at Arsenal, highlighting the influence of both Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola in his coaching career.
“You can see the way the team are playing. He [Arteta] has obviously had a good intuition from Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola because he’s playing their type of football which is a pleasure to watch.”
The Spaniard has faced a lot of criticism since becoming manager of the Gunners, with fans and pundits unimpressed with his eighth-place finish in 2021, and narrowly missing out on Champions League football last campaign.
Dein commented on Arteta’s progression in comparison to his first full seasons in charge of the Gunners.
“Everything is coming through and the fact that they’re doing well now, hopefully Arsenal will finish it very strongly at the end of the season.”
Arteta’s desire to achieve as Arsenal boss is unquestionable, the team he is building is one of success and drive to deliver the top prizes for one of London’s biggest and most successful clubs, the Spaniard has the support of most to bring glory back to North London.
