Arsenal Champions League Odds and Predictions

Upon Arsenal’s return to the Champions League for the 2024/25 season, fans are excited and there is plenty of speculation around their odds and potential performance.

The upcoming game on Tuesday, October 22nd, sees Arsenal facing Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium. On paper, Arsenal is heavily favoured to secure a victory. Every betting line suggests they’re superior. According to the odds, a resounding Arsenal win by four or more goals is set at 23/10. It seems that bookmakers expect a dominant performance. If you’re looking at more modest outcomes to add to your football accumulator tips, betting on Arsenal to win by two or three goals offers odds of 10/3 and 7/2 respectively. Adding more on your acca ticket can lead to potentially bigger winnings, if you guess it all correctly.

With Arsenal’s attacking firepower led by the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, and Martin Ødegaard, it’s easy to imagine they’ll score high. Recent form in both domestic and European competition shows Arsenal’s ability to score freely against weaker opposition, and Shakhtar’s defence could be in for a long night at the Emirates.

That said, football is never as predictable as the odds might suggest. Shakhtar Donetsk is not among Europe’s elite but has a history of pulling off surprises in the Champions League. The odds for them to win by any margin tell a grim story for Ukrainian fans–Shakhtar to win by a single goal is listed at 25/1, and their chances of a bigger margin are even more outlandish, with 90/1 for a two-goal win and a whopping 325/1 for a three-goal victory.

Considering the large gap in class, it’s hard to see anything other than an Arsenal win. The most likely scenario appears to be a comfortable two or three-goal margin, possibly leaving room for an unexpected consolation goal for Shakhtar. But if Mikel Arteta’s men are truly in form, a four-goal rout is well within reach.

Just a few weeks after their clash with Shakhtar, Arsenal will travel to Milan to take on Inter in a November 6th showdown at the San Siro. This is a key match in Arsenal’s group-stage campaign and a true test of their credentials against Europe’s elite.

Both teams are sitting on four points after two matches, with one win and one draw each, which makes them tied in the group standings. While Arsenal is strong at home, travelling to San Siro may be a different challenge. Historically, Italian teams are tough to break down on home turf, and Inter Milan’s formidable lineup under manager Simone Inzaghi makes them favourites heading into the match.

Although the specific odds for the Arsenal vs Inter match haven’t been released yet, it’s a common belief that Arsenal will enter the game as underdogs due to Inter’s home advantage. However, this is a match where anything can happen. With Arsenal boasting a quick, high-pressing style, they could catch Inter on the counter, especially if the Italians are overconfident in possession.

One area for bettors to think about is the likelihood of both teams scoring, as Arsenal’s attack, combined with Inter’s offensive power led by Lautaro Martinez, suggest an open game. It’s safe to say that markets like “both teams score” and over/under goal totals will be popular, with many predicting a high-scoring affair. Arsenal will need to keep discipline at the back, as one defensive lapse could mean the difference between victory and defeat in such a tight contest

While this matchup is too close to call at the moment, with both sides evenly matched in talent and form, home advantage could give Inter the slight edge. But if Arsenal can secure a result here, it will significantly boost their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.

As they head into the winter months, Arsenal has a packed schedule, with some key Champions League and domestic clashes looming large.

After their trip to Milan, Arsenal will face Monaco at home on December 11th. This match could be another opportunity for Arsenal to demonstrate their strength at the Emirates. Monaco, while competitive, doesn’t boast the firepower or depth of some of Arsenal’s other European rivals, and a comfortable win is expected for the Gunners.

On January 22nd, Arsenal will play host to GNK Dinamo, a team known for its resilience in European competitions. This match could be crucial for ensuring progression to the knockout stages, as every point will matter in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested group.

A week later, on January 29th, Arsenal will travel to Girona for another tough away fixture. Girona’s compact and organised defence could present problems for Arsenal, especially if they’re dealing with fatigue from their busy schedule. However, Arsenal’s superior quality should see them through. If they remain in good form, they should be able to secure the points needed to move forward in the competition.

Should Arsenal come away with favourable results in these next few fixtures, they will be well on their way to qualifying for the knockout rounds. Still, the group remained tight, and even one slip-up could derail their progress.

As for Arsenal’s odds of winning the tournament outright, they currently sit at 17/2, which makes them the third favourites to lift the trophy in May. They might not be the leading contenders, but Arsenal’s combination of youth, talent, and tactical versatility under Mikel Arteta makes them a dark horse in this year’s competition.
