Arsenal U21: How to watch Young Guns game at Milton Keynes
Bristol Street Motors Trophy preview: MK vs Arsenal U21s
Mehmet Ali's talented Arsenal U21 side are back competing for the Bristol Street Motors Trophy as they travel up the M1 to take on League Two side Milton Keynes in the second group-stage match later this evening, Tuesday (October 7).
Prologue:
The Young Guns go into the game on the back of successive league defeats, aiming to get back to winning ways once again.
As the Gooner Fanzine reported from Brisbane Road early last month, the academy aces sealed a hard-fought 2-1 victory against League One outfit Leyton Orient in their first game of the tournament, through goals from Josh Robinson (who went on to make his first team debut aas a starter in the 5-1 League Cup rout of Bolton Wandereres, as did fellow goalscorer vs Orient, Ismeal Kabia, who came off the bench at the Emirates.
The tournament has always afforded talented young Arsenal stars a chance to shine, not least a certain Bukayo Saka, who made four appearances in this tournament during the 2018-19 season, prior to making his Premier League debut only a few weeks later.
The opposition
MK Dons ply their trade in League Two after a miserable relegation from League One during the 2022-23 season.
Last term, they finished fourth in the table and reached the play-off semi-finals, where they were beaten by Crawley Town, who eventually earned promotion with a resounding 2-0 victory over Crewe at Wembley.
This season has seen a mixed bag of results, with MK currently 13th in the table with three wins, three draws, and four losses from their first 10 matches.
Their most recent outing saw them they draw 1-1 with Tranmere Rovers.
However, in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, they lost 2-1 to Colchester United in their opening group match, and will be keen to make up ground against their gilded young visitors.
