Hakan Calhanoglu's first half penalty in the third minute of first half injury time was enough to beat Mikel Arteta's Arsenal at a raucous San Siro on Wednesdy evening.

Player Ratings:
David Raya: 6.5/10 - Beaten all ends up by Dumfries’ early shot as Inter made a lively start. Sent the wrong way by Hakan Calhanoglu for Inter’s penalty moments before the interval
Ben White: 6.5/10 - Battled gamely to prevent Mehdi Taremi from being a threat
William Saliba: 6.5/10 - Not his best game, appeared off the pae at tines, more in concentration level than pace wise
Gabriel: 6.5/10 - Inter stuck to the Brazil centre-back like a limpet on the rare occasions Arsenal offered a dead ball threat in the home side’s box
Jurrien Timber: 6.5/10 - Engaged in a challenging duel with Dumfries
Thomas Partey: 6.5/10 - Battled hard in the heart of midfield and was always available to give and receive a pass
Mikel Merino: 5/10 - First half effort missed the far post but could he have have had a penalty when keeper Sommer made contact with the £28m midfielder’s head. Gave away a penalty that was correct within the letter of the law, but a frustrating one to concede nonetheless, with his arms inadvertently away from his body. Substituted at half time to cap a miserable evening
Bukayo Saka: 6.5/10 -With Inter playing wing-backs it made it difficult for the Arsenal captain to push up along the flanks in a bid to prompt visitors’ attacks. Second half cross cleared off the line by Dumfires as the visitors strove for parity
Gabi Martinelli: 5/10 - A driving run into the Inter box came to nothing after a poor final ball. The young Brazil attacker simply has to learn not to relinquish possession or provide a better end product. Or both
Leandro Trossard: 4.5/10 - Off the pace
Kai Havertz: 6.5/10 - Ran his heart out along the backline in a bid to work space and time, but another fallow evening for the attacker. Bisseck’s crucial deflection took the ball away from goal when the attacker was well-placed on 75 minutes, with more space and time than he realised
Substitutes:
Gabriel Jesus: 7/10 - Replaced Merino at the interval. Booked for tangling with Barrella as he injected more intensity into the side
Ethan Nwaneri (82' for Trossard) - 6.5/10
Oleksandr Zinchenko (82' for Timber) - 5.5/10
Martin Odegaard (90' for Havertz) - 10/10 - Great to have our talisman back playing once again
Subs not used: Neto (GK),
Tommy Setford (GK),
Jakub Kiwior,
Jorginho,
Raheem Sterling,
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji,
