Brighton’s recent results:

Brighton have not won any of their last four games, losing two and drawing two, with their last win coming against Everton on the 24th March. Their previous fixture against Villa produced an even contest based on the statistics, despite Villa getting the narrow win. 

Their recent fixture against Spurs ended in a 1-1 draw despite Spurs dominating the game, so Brighton will hope for a similar contest against Arsenal. 

Elisabeth Terland has been a key player for Brighton this season, scoring 13 goals in 21 appearances and has recently been nominated for Women’s Super League Player of the Season. She is a player Arsenal will need to be wary of, as she looks to add to her goal total in the final game of the season.

Arsenal’s potential lineup:

Jonas Eidevall has not opted for a consistent line-up this season, and recently changed it up again in the win against Manchester City. This makes the potential line-up difficult to predict.

With Arsenal announcing the departure of Sabrina D’Angelo in the summer, this will be her final game for the club, so there are hopes that will feature in the starting XI. Kaylan Marckese will also leave in the summer, but her injury will prevent her from featuring in the match day squad.

After scoring two goals to win the game for Arsenal, it is likely we will see Stina Blackstenius feature in the starting XI. Kim Little also played a key role in Blackstenius’ winning goal against Man City and helped turn the game around, so if Arsenal wish to finish the season on a high, Little should likely feature in the line-up.

Despite performing extremely well in the game, Kyra Cooney-Cross came off with an apparent injury, so we are unsure if she will be fit to play. Lotte Wubben-Moy and Vivianne Miedema are also doubts, having missed recent games due to injury. Most will be hoping to see Miedema get some minutes, especially after the disappointing recent announcement that she will leave Arsenal in the summer.

It would be great to see young members of the squad feature in this game, including Katie Reid, who made her debut against Bristol City this season. Michelle Agyemang is another who may feature after returning from her successful loan spell at Watford, especially having just signed a professional contract with Arsenal.

How will the game play out?

Arsenal will look to finish the season on a high, building on the mistakes made in the Everton game that led to Arsenal missing out on the win. Their second half performance against Manchester City demonstrated just how dominant and effective Arsenal can be, with the Brighton game an opportunity to demonstrate this throughout the whole 90 minutes (not just the second half). 

A comfortable victory for Arsenal would also give them the opportunity to bring on young players to give them valuable minutes as the season concludes.

Brighton are currently 9th in the table and can move to a maximum 8th place above Everton (if Everton lose or draw their final game and Brighton win).

Both teams will want to finish the season on a high, with little to play for but pride.
